⭐ 1-Star Review: A Cake Catastrophe from Icebox Cafe

Icebox Cafe Miami, I wanted to be wowed. Instead, I was left wondering if this was a prank.

Let’s start with the packaging, or lack thereof. The cake was shipped in a flimsy, oversized box with no internal support, no cake ring, and the whole thing was wrapped in plastic wrap—yes, like something you’d pick up in the freezer section at your local grocery store. Not exactly the elegant, specialty presentation one expects from a bakery of your reputation.

To make matters worse, the cake arrived after 10 PM and clearly had a rough journey—it was delivered on its side, completely smooshed. A sad, sideways, squashed mess. This wasn’t a cake; it was a crime scene.

Now… let’s talk taste. Or lack thereof.

The cheesecake layer was SOUR. And not in a tangy, New York-style kind of way—in a “something’s gone wrong” kind of way. The entire thing was barely touched. Not a single guest went back for seconds. In fact, most spit it out. That’s how bad it was.

I had such high hopes for this to be a showstopper dessert. Instead, it became the punchline of the evening. For a premium price, I received a product that was poorly packaged, questionably fresh, and genuinely inedible.

Icebox Cafe, I’ve seen you featured in articles, praised by foodies, and tagged in dreamy Instagram photos. Unfortunately, what showed up at my door was a total disaster—both in form and flavor.

I entered costumer area to make exchange with the App and then order coffes plus muffina for me and wife. The attendant came to us with a "police officer attitude" or like we were children and asked why we took seat without ordering. I explained that would order after making cash in my Wise account - suddenly, the lady turned her back on us very rudely and left me talking alone in such an unkind way. I hope that this establishment take conscious thinking about suspending this worker for a few days in order to better training and further orientation. Obviously we took away to another dining place. I don't think I could be attended in the sequence, because the lady disappeared and the other two attendants were talking to each other as if they were alone vacationing on a pub or beach - not working...

I actually go to the location down near gate D10 very often. They have fantastic fresh salads to go as well as soups (of which I've heard high praise), sandwiches, baked goods, breakfast and lunch items and a little counter and tables. The salad to go is packed with lettuce and other goodies and a very fair price for such a fresh and quality item. The thai chicken salad is what I always buy and it is around $10. It has cucumber, julienned beets, tomato, shredded chicken breast and a fantastic creamy thai dressing. I also buy the fresh pressed juices at the location which I am currently starring. They are somewhat pricey ($8ish) , but they are made fresh daily and shipped in every morning, a small price to pay for a healthy juiced meal,...
