The cuban skirt steak was pretty tasty, yet a bit salty. Black beans and rice were great. The server (female waitress, can’t remember name) was rude and unprofessional. Ordered a drink that SHE recommended. My husband did not like after one sip (i sipped and concurred it tasted like heavy club soda). Kindly requested a new drink. Waitress got very defensive and suggested she would simply talk to the bartender. The interaction was a bit awkward so I suggested leave the drink and we would pay for a different one. She seemed to understand then said if she brings another drink that she would not be removing the 1st one from the check (I already said I would essentially pay for two). She was rude. Then when my husband was visibly upset she tried to remedy the situation by speaking with her management. I was so uncomfortable I kept saying “it’s fine, just leave the drink and no need to order a new one”. In hindsight, when is it ever ok to recommend a drink, the patron dislike it, and then refuse or create an issue about replacing the drink or removing altogether? Anywho, she came back and told us that the situation was remedied and that she would just take it off the bill. She never apologized for her rudeness. She tried to be friendly to the children so i tried to forget all about the drink situation and enjoy dinner. After dinner, she shows me the breakdown of the bill on her tablet/handheld machine. She emphasized she removed the drink. I ask “where do i leave the tip” when checking out. She smiled and thanked me for wanting to leave a tip (my assumption is she was surprised given the preceding circumstances). She showed me where on the screen to leave the tip. I selected “print receipt”. She went to go grab and we left. At the terminal i look at the receipt to find that she charged us an 18% service fee. This was not disclosed when she was showing me the breakdown of the bill. And unbeknownst to her, my family has frequently ate at this restaurant and never been charged a service fee. My assumption is that she attempted to be greedy. She provided below par service and wanted to sneakily secure a tip (which as mentioned prior we were going to do anyway). And not only did she receive a service charge of 18%, but we tipped additional on top of this. Hopefully this does not happen to anyone else or a lesson to review your receipt before leaving the restaurant and/or speak with a manager because employees such as this try to be dishonest and it truly affects the business’...

If you're looking for a great place to eat and drink in Miami, FL, Ku-Va Restaurant & Bar in the North Terminal is definitely worth checking out. The restaurant offers a great selection of Cuban and Latin American dishes, as well as a wide variety of cocktails and other drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, with plenty of seating available both indoors and outdoors.
One of the standout features of Ku-Va Restaurant & Bar is the quality of the food. The menu is extensive, with dishes ranging from classic Cuban sandwiches and rice and beans to more creative options like ceviche and grilled octopus. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, and the portions were generous. Prices are reasonable for airport dining, with most entrees in the $15-$20 range.
Another thing we appreciated about Ku-Va Restaurant & Bar was the service. Despite being busy during our visit, our server was attentive and friendly, and never made us feel rushed. The restaurant also has a great selection of drinks, including a number of specialty cocktails and a solid beer and wine list. We particularly enjoyed the mojitos, which were perfectly balanced and refreshing.

Read moreI came upon place located in the Miami International Airport catching a departing flight. My departure time was such that I couldn't get a meal before I get to the airport which is what prefer. And my arrival time would be around most kitchens are closing. So I decided to grab something and take with me and eat when I get to my room. After reading the menu I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Ku Va Ceviche as an appetizer to eat while I wait for my entree. The ceviche is the only reason I couldn't give Ku VA 5 stars. I understand vinegar is a very key ingredient in the making of ceviche but it seems that is all they use. It was almost a task to finish it. My entree now that is a different story all together. I ordered the "PESCADO A LA PLANCHA - GRILLED FISH FILLET" and added the optional shrimp. Due to thunderstorms my flight was delayed for over 2 hours and by the time I got to my hotel room it was after midnight and I was starving. When I opened the packed food the large fillet of fish was on a bed of white rice and the black beans and shrimp,(which was packed in a red sauce) were in separate containers. So I decided to pour the black beans over half of the rice and the black beans over the other half. Once I began eating it was then I wished I was eating this dish just as the chef was putting on the finishing touches on the dish. The fish was cooked to perfection. It was light and flaky and seasoned very well. The shrimp and sauce was took the dish to another level of eating pleasure. The black beans also were cooked well and were full of flavor. Each item would have been a great meal all by themselves. To have them together is pure dining ecstacy. This meal turned out to be my pot of gold at the end of a very long and...
