I'm so sorry to say our visit was not great experience. While waiting to order, we witnessed and heard( the whole restaurant did), a young lady on the phone disputing with a customer. Our waitress Kim was very rushed and a little impatient taking our order. ( Mom has dementia) Mom just ordered Tuscan tortolini soup. I had fried calamari and a salad. I wasn't paying much attention as mom was eating until the end. I asked her if there was anything in the soup. She said no, just tomato soup. When Kim returned to see if we wanted anything else, I asked her what the soup was thinking Mom got something other than the Tuscan tortolini that she ordered because it did not have anything in it. It was the Tuscan tortolini. She was kind to ask if we wanted something else, but mom already ate it and didn't want anything. No other resolution was offered. The checked was dropped off and I was surprised to see the soup still on it. As the busboy passed I asked if we pay at table or take it up to counter. He offered to take it but I did say I had a question about it. He sent the manager. The same one who was loudly arguing on the phone. I asked her if she was the same one in the phone and told her we all heard her. She said the customer was swearing at her. I told her as a restaurant owner I get it. She then said I should have told the server. I told her I did. This young lady is quite volatile. She was defensive and not listening to me. I asked her if she ordered tortolini soup, if she would expect it to be that. She said yes. She did not want to offer good business resolution and just take it off. It's not the money but the principal. She then accused me of talking down to her when I asked her to stop talking and listen to me. She left and returned with a to go cup of soup and walking away exclaiming loudly, "THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT EVEN WHEN THEY ARE WRONG!!" As we were leaving she kept carrying on. Honestly I don't even know what she was saying. All I heard was a sarcastic"Merry Christmas! Even miserable people...something something" . I said I am not miserable. She said you're mad. I was frustrated but not mad. I did say "have a nice life." I don't plan on seeing her again and I told her that. It escalated horribly and unnecessarily. I'm sorry about that. This young lady needs better boundaries or a filter or something. She does not seem to had a tempement to deal with people and conflict resolution. PS the calamari was...
Read moreWe haven't been here for a year or so, so we decided to go for an early dinner. The place was empty maybe 3 table's and us. We had the nicest server she was very friendly. We ordered the garlic knots to start, they came out fairly quickly and I honestly have to say these garlic knots were the best I've had! As we chatted awaiting our meals I couldn't help but notice the odd order I believe it was from the old dirty carpet! Also, we chose a booth against the front window's (a lovely view of US 1 and the traffic light, not) anyway, as I was wondering about the smell I looked up to the ceiling in our corner of the restaurant and a piece of the tile had fallen down and it appeared to be a leak, water damage of some kind (I took a photo it's posted with this review). Our food came out, I had ordered just a slice of pepperoni Pizza and my Son ordered Chicken Wing's, med. sauce on the side. My slice was underwhelming by it was extremely small and the pepperoni were laid on AFTER it was cooked! They slide off ever time I picked it up! My Son's Chicken Wing's were excellent, sauce was excellent. We eventually ordered an extra slice since it was so small. We couldn't resist getting a Cannoli for dessert well, the flavor was good but the filling seemed to of not been quite refrigerated enough and there were giant chocolate chips on each end, none in the middle and not tiny chips but tasty. I can say we will not return again for some time in hopes it gets better. Might order knots to go...
Read moreOnly ordered Pizza to go, but, what was in the box is worth taking time to do this review and spread my experience by word of mouth - forever!
Friday nights are busy at most restaurants so the wait was really long - over half hour. However, the atmosphere was chaotic and very noisy. Not a single staff member showed any semblance of manners or asked us if they could provide anything for me, my son or the 3 year old I was dealing with due to the long wait. When the pie came out there was no apology for the long wait. Now for the pie itself. I wish to hell I'd opened that box before we left because there was no Pizza - just the most incredibly wet, over-cheesed and oily disc I've ever seen a restaurant prepare and have the G-D nerve to send out of their kitchen. When we got home and tried to eat the mess we were immediately turned off by the greasiness and the cheese tasting like plastic cheddar. I have most of it sitting on my stove and am preparing to go deliver it to the restaurant owner by AIR MAIL the second he comes out of the kitchen. Overall, I have to rate Poppa Louie's a totally disgusting experience. I cannot imagine how filthy their kitchen must be either! Touch of Brooklyn in Fort Pierce is worth the drive and the pizza is the closest thing to authentic New York/New Jersey pizza you will find on the entire Treasure Coast - even if one of the owners is a little rude. But then how many...
