Read moreAs diners go, this is a local mainstay. This is another diner that I have been going to for many, many years. My first visit was in the mid 1990's when I would be on vacation. Later, I moved here in 2001. It's a familiar place. They know me when I walk in. The food is exactly what you'd expect from a good diner. It's hot and plentiful. Breakfast is always available throughout the day or night. There are the usual offerings of hot & cold sandwiches and full meals along with daily specials. Their Lamb Shank is particularly good and always sells out. Their charbroiled burgers and ribs are great too. It's just good, basic food; nothing too fancy or out of place for a diner. The owners are Greek, so offerings of traditional Greek food are also on the menu.
The one thing different about this diner is that they have a full service bar which is unusual. The bar is located in a separate room, complete with several flat screen TVs, a jukebox, booths, an arrangement of tables and barstools. You can always find people dining, hanging at the bar and watching the flat screens. They have their regulars. It's a bit like a pub and it has a separate entrance from their ample parking lot. The rest of the diner is pretty typical with counter service and two separated dining areas. To their credit, the owners have always seen fit to invest in refreshes and periodic renovations which presently include flooring, new booths, tables, chairs, renovated bathrooms and a number of flat screen TVs. The place is well cared for.
Service is usually very good, but delays can sometimes happen when they're particularly busy and short staffed, but that's rare. Sundays can be very busy once the area churches let out. The staff really hustles. There are staff that have been with the diner for many years and they get to know their regulars by name. Relationships are formed. These are friendly, experienced and efficient servers. Newer members come and go, but the staff always seems familiar. Patrons will often ask to be seated in the section of their favorite server.
My only issue is that they are no longer open 24 hrs. It was such a convenient place to go when you couldn't sleep or when you were out late, but 24 hour diners are a dying breed. I'm simply glad they are still here. Not too long ago they were rated "Best Diner", so they're doing...
Read moreThis place is not worth a visit. Food is bland nothing was good. I was served warm chocolate milk and burnt eggs. I will never return. My hotel breakfast was better than here!
So you the owner are calling me a liar on my room temperature chocolate milk huh? I consider any milk not cool or cold as warm. My server was an older lady with all the gold jewelry. Is there still something with my review now??? Your restaurant was not worth the recommendations I received to eat there.
Update:
I went and read all the bad reviews about this restaurant and I noticed a pattern, you can't handle anyone actually leaving a bad review. You dismiss people's claims and downplay anything that shows your restaurant in a negative light. I actually visited your restaurant sat in the booth in the corner by the front door, near the counters. Had an older lady with died black hair and a ton of jewelry serve us, she was fantastic. However the chocolate milk "made with syrup" was Luke warm. Check the video footage if you want. I complained about it to the guest that was with me. Ordered the 2 eggs with bacon and home fries, white bread toast with strawberry jelly. My eggs I asked for scrambled with cheese, did not receive my order with cheese...and the eggs had a bunch of "freckles" or brown burnt spots on them. I didn't ask for different food bc you get one chance to get a first impression right. You failed and I left a basic review. But you tell me "we don't serve warm milk, there is something wrong with my review.
Have a good day and don't worry, you won't ever see me in your restaurant again when I travel thru the area.
2nd update drug here by my father in law again. Tried to make it work. Ordered a breakfast sandwich. Of course it's burnt eggs and cold cheese with toast. I literally could make better...
