I am writing this due to the experience I had yesterday. Their restaurant shows up on the MIA2GO site; which is the Miami Airport version of ordering from a restaurant through an app. Not all of the places allow you to do this. Those that don't, you can't. Or so I thought. I ordered a soup of the day and chicken Caesar salad. I paid through the app, got the text saying when to pick up my order, and the email showing my receipt. I walked back to the restaurant and nothing. I waited for 15min before I had to flag a bartender down who had seen me during that time; and when I asked if my order was ready I was told "did you order through the pad?" "No, I ordered through the Miami 2 Go airport app which shows your restaurant uses." He got his manager, who was short with me, "we don't use that app, you are going to have to take it up with your bank, we didn't get your order, nothing we can do about it". When I showed the email with the paid receipt, the text with the time and asked, "Why does the site have your restaurant as an option then? Okay, since it is a super quick set of items, if I use your system; can you put that through as a quick fire". She looked straight at me and told me "NO, I can't and won't do that. It will be 25min. It isn't my fault you used the app that we don't use." I replied with "Okay then, you are telling me that if I place a new order through your side of things and pay your restaurant directly, that you are not only are you not making my order, but if you did you wouldn't ask for it to be sped up because of the website mix-up which is not my fault". She told me they would make the order, but she wasn't going to speed it up at all. I walked away at that point, and now having to dispute the charge with my bank. This could have been handled so...
Read moreThis was by far the worst airport restaurant I have ever been to. The waiters don’t seem to know what to do, and were clueless of what food went to which table. The way they give the food is one of the worst systems I have seen. They first make the food, and put it by a little bar area. Then, the 3 waiters start to take the food and give it out to the tables very slowly. Most of the time they don’t even go to the right tables. Because of this system, we saw 2 couples unknowingly leave without paying. This is probably because of the frustration with their system. Another couple was waiting for their food for over 20 minutes and just got up and walked out. Airport food is supposed to be timely, after all, everyone has their flights to catch. I ordered a burger with fries. My burger was dry because there was no condiments exempt ketchup that they gave with the fries. The burger was any average burger, nothing special. Patty, cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce. I wouldn’t say it’s the best burger (or a good one) but it was edible. My fries were undercooked, and they didn’t even taste good. I also got barely any! The service there was terrible, we waited about 30 minutes after ordering. We even saw our food sitting on the bar. Nobody was giving it to us so we just decided to take it ourselves and one of the waiters got mad at us for doing it! Also, the waiters barely spoke...
Read moreAirport dining is overpriced, to be sure, but the quality of food was somewhere around chain buffet quality. Ordered skirt steak medium rare with chimichurri, and no chimichurri arrived. I asked about this and the server (who was about as lovely as a person could be) said it was a marinade and not a garnish. Well, if you cook chimichurri, it burns and the steak was definitely flavored with the taste of burned herbs. Additionally, for a medium rare order, it was tragically overcooked as no pink was found. That can happen with skirt steak given how thin it is, but between the acrid flavor of burned oil/herbs and it being overcooked... Just not a good meal.
The fried shrimp were the best item, but again, probably no better than ones you'd pull from a chafing dish at Golden Corral.
I came for the Key Lime Pie (when in Miami, amirite?) and while it was not bad, it wasn't tart nor memorable in anyway.
Overall - It is a place to sit in an airport and have overpriced food brought to you. The only positive is the server was as kind as can be... Almost to the point that she didn't deserve to work as hard as she did, polite as she was, toting food that mediocre or outright bad.
There must be better options at MIA, and if a rival restaurant sees this, please rescue our server Yunia... Who saved the review from one star only with her...
