Read moreToday was our 3rd time, last one being more than 1 year ago. It looks much better and bigger than last time. We arrived at around 330pm and we knew we would be lucky if we had still made it to their famous ajiaco. They were already sold out.
Instead, we got a parrillada for 4, a chicken broth soup and a beef broth soup. Both soups were good in portion, the arepa was super tiny. I was not expected a big size arepa but this something a bit bigger than a tiny one.
The parrillada for 4 was definitely not for 4. It only had 1 chorizo and 1 Morcilla (I wonder what's the portion for a 2 people parrillada) 🤔 . The chicken, beef and other meats were really good and well cooked except for the morcilla which was bland, it had no flavor at all. It had a lot of fried yucca which gave the parrillada a lot of volume and again we did not think it was enough for 4 people. It was right there barely making it.
The place was not very crowded and service at first was food. However, we waited a bit to get water refills and sauces which we only got for 1 person instead of 4.
Would we come back? For a parrillada, most likely no. For their Ajiaco, probably yes because we have heard great things. We will update this review when...
Read moreWhen I first walked in I was a little put off that there is an armed guard with a hand held metal detector 🤦🏻♀️. The Music and atmosphere at first was good, but when they started the Karaoke it got OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD!!! So loud you cannot hold a conversation with the person across the table from you and could not enjoy our meal because we could not stand how loud it was. I mentioned it to the waitress and she replied that it was not the first time that it was mentioned and the management did not seem to care to change its current level of noise. *Caution ⚠️ if you have loved ones with sensory issues for this is not a place to come unless they are equipped with headphones. We had the empanadas which were the highlight of the evening well made and crunchy. We had the Picada for two. Lots of food for the price and plenty to eat for the next two days. The steak was not grilled or seared as it is traditionally prepared and my daughter found the chicken to be too salty for her taste. The beans tasted burnt :(
I am usually not this critical in my reviews and I wish I would have seen the reviews before I went. It is safe to say that I will probably just zip in and out for the empanadas...
