I visited Maguro's this past weekend and "My, oh, my" has this establishment perfected the term Latin Asian Fusion. I'll begin by saying the experience starts as soon as you walk through their front door. There is a metallic curtain that subtly separates the tables in the main dining area from the guest waiting to be seated at the door. We sat at the table nearest to the curtain and although it does not block your view from people entering the space, it gives you enough privacy to not feel like you're on display. The aesthetic was simple, colorful and incorporated all the elements. The lighting was perfect for an intimate dinner with a loved one or in our case a couple's date night. Soft House Music filled the room perfectly without drowning the conversation you're having across the table. It had what I would call, "A Whole Vibe".
There is a separate room with more tables you an see from the main floor through a wall of glass windows draped with vines. I visited their bathroom and I must say, a clean bathroom is always a sign of a restaurant's attention to detail. It is designed for 1 guest at a time, however it was beautifully executed. The long shiny wood counter top, the stand alone white porcelain sink, the dark evergreen wall color and all the little details in there made you feel like you were in a magazine. I definitely took some inspiration home from that room with me.
Now, onto the good part, the Food! Their menu is full of diverse pairings that make it quite difficult not to order everything on it.
We had the Vegan Fried rice with a poached egg for myself and sunny side up egg for my husband. Those with a liking for higher sodium may find it a tad bit bland, but for me, it was superb! If you're not into eggs, no worries, you can order without it as well.
Let's talk Garlic, Salt & Lime Edamame… I have eaten edamame at tons of restaurants, but never come across this flavorful combination. It was so good we had to share with our friends to let them experience it. We finished them in no time and were left licking our fingers wanting more. Give them a try, you won't regret it.
The To' Frito sushi roll had the perfect crunch on the exterior and the insides were equally as delicious. It is hard to describe the burst of flavors you will experience when eating these intricately designed rolls, so you'll just have to go try it for yourself. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
The service was great. Sharymar was our server and her energy was so welcoming, it felt like we were longtime friends. She was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and helped guide us right to what we were craving. She encouraged dessert which also did not disappoint. We had the Guava Bread with Wonton chips, Yuzu Coconut Crème Brule. Both owned their bragging rights in my opinion, although my friends had the Coquito Cheesecake and let's just say they did not share.
Maguro's is a hidden gem in Orlando. My compliments to the chef for his passion and daring spirit to create this exquisite menu for the world to enjoy. I live for these experiences and look forward to my next visit to you all there at Maguro's. May you be a...
Read moreFirst time customer in this restaurant and I have to say very bad experience no organization the first waitress told me we must wait 20 minutes to have a table available for 8 people so that turn into 40 minutes then we order the food right away because we did look into the digital menu, so the people that came last came out first means they got their food and left the premises meanwhile we did wait another 30 minutes to get the plates but in count dropping and the waitress didn’t even know which plate was which , and the drinks came way late a complete disaster , oh and the sake mojitos it was more ice than anything else and I thought they put mint leaves inside well it was everything else but mint, and about another 30 minutes later my mother call one of the waitress that she was standing next to the counter doing nothing and I mean there was a lot going on for the other waitresses and she just was standing there but I guess watching the counter that wouldn’t go nowhere. In top of it 2 waitress doing all the work of serving and cleaning tables and even mopping and another 2 waitress helping with the drinks and then 2 waitresses arguing in the hallway next to the bar. After 3 waitresses that came to our table she came to ask us if we want something else I told her I am interested into a dessert the coquito cheese cake then she told me they are out of it that really got me to the point where I told her I am not coming back to this restaurant ever, and recapping the reason why I will not come back. Which honestly that wasn’t her fault but someone must listen. Oh to put the cherry on the top they charge us $12 for a party bigger than 5 , which translates $12 for bad customer experience granted I always give a reasonable tip to the waitress as long is one and she or he do their best making sure the service was good but this was a complete different disaster. I think the owner must watch closely their employees and go around the tables making sure sure everyone is getting...
Read moreSushi is my favorite food in the world. I have been to MANY different sushi restaurants, and I think I have a pretty good idea which ones are the best. I also like to order the more unique types of rolls…I don’t want to order a California roll when I’m getting sushi!! I hope you can take my word for it then, when I tell you Maguro Latin Asian Cuisine is a REALLY good restaurant. As many people have said in reviews, if you like fusion food that pushes the limits of what “Asian food” or “Latin food” can be…you will love this place. So, if you’re like me, who always likes the most unique sushi roll on the menu, Maguro should definitely be on your list.
Every roll is extremely flavorful and perfectly balances both Japanese and Latin cuisines! Nothing is super bland (at least the menu items we tried…and we got a LOT), and everything comes out quite quickly. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and the staff working there are quite friendly. If you have a question, or ask for their recommendations, they’re happy to explain exactly why they’d choose one menu item over the other.
Everything is reasonably-priced, and I just can’t stop talking to people about Maguro. Where else can you find sushi rolls with caramelized plantains and other ingredients you’d normally only find in Latin foods?! I don’t know of any in the Orlando area! Not to mention their other items on the menu! They’re exceptionally good as well. Bao, different Asian/Latin fusion meats, and many other things are all worthy of trying. So, if you’re looking for a highly unique type of cuisine unlike anything else you’ll find in this city, look no further than here. It’s really different, and in a really good way. I can’t wait...
