I have no clue why the place is rated so high. Maybe the dine-in experience is redeeming, but the take-out is absolutely awful. I tipped the girl who took my order, even though I wasn’t dining in—I feel like every penny I spent was an absolute waste. Here is why: They ask for a phone number when you place a carry-out order, but they never called to tell me my order was ready. When I did come back for my order, it was on a random shelf with my name. Anyone could have taken it and no one would have noticed, honestly, they can go ahead and have it because… The food is bad. Plain and simple. It’s not good. It’s rushed. Isn’t not fresh. The place is called skillets and yet their potatoes are flavorless, slimy, and questionably prepared. It’s not only bad food, it’s… Potentially unsanitary. My partners eggs were so undercooked, he wouldn’t eat them. The to-go package was thrown together carelessly. Unboxing take-aways don’t always look pretty, but this was downright rushed and ugly. I don’t like pickles, I didn’t know my order came with pickles and they laid it on top of my food so it all absorbed the flavor of this soaking, stinky pickle. The lettuce in my wrap looked like collared greens (cooked, brown, and wilted). It was so yucky I couldn’t eat it. This is a big shame because it’s the only breakfast place in that area (besides Panera). We all want a cozy diner to get some comfort-food, but don’t waste your time with this place. I...
Read moreOur first visit. Waitress was very pleasant, but overwhelmed with crowd. My coffee was not good, funny taste.. Husband had decaf which was fine. Busboy got me a clean cup to share decaf. I had the special. Two bacon potato pancakes which were not cooked enough, chicken sausage was chewy With no flavor, scramble eggs and apples were good. Had to ask for scone which waitress said did not come with special although the large special sign said it did.
It took us 35 minutes to get our food after waitress finally went to find out where it was. I know you just opened in Venice, but this is a long time to wait.
Husband was satisfied with scrambled eggs, sausage links and potatoes.
Suggestions:
More durable napkins.
Very crowded tables for two: dish with milks, large salt and pepper, jams in bin, hot sauce, surgers in a bin ketchup, two coffee decanters as well as our cups and large water glasses. Not much room left for plate and silver ware.
Waitresses would be more efficient if their area was contained to adjacent tables. Our waitress seemed to spend much time walking back and forth.
We were looking forward to having a great time at Skittles. We probably will...
Read moreI would like to say that I’ve noticed a positive change at this location in the last month. It seems there has been a change in personnel, I believe there may be a new chef in the kitchen. The food has been substantially better. The last visit, the food was all perfectly cooked. The eggs were not dry or overdone, and the skillet potatoes were perfectly done. I just wanted to leave some great feedback for this store as I see the hard work everyone is doing to improve. The manager Deb and all of the wait staff is very personable and always makes it a pleasant visit. We bring our two children there all the time. We have a baby girl and a seven year old with autism. We are regulars who eat at Skillets every Sunday, sometimes a couple extra times during the week. We know the entire staff by name and they know us as well. They help make our dining experience good even having the kids with us - every parent knows how valuable this is. This is a family restaurant if there ever was one. I love this location and I love the food even more now that they’ve changed things in the kitchen. It’s the people who really make the experience....
