South Street City Oven Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Florida

We are very new to the area and had heard that this was a nice place to have a pizza or burger, so we (wife and I, two kids, and a family friend) headed there for dinner tonight and had a great time!

We ended up ordering WAY too many things, and we're all stuffed, but it all was so very good, from the bruschetta (fresh mozzarella, bread not too crispy, which I feel is important), the honey garlic wings (great sauce, just let them cool off a bit when they arrive so you really get the flavor), the upside-down pizza (sauce on top of mozzarella, with a little parmesan sprinkled on top - I loved it! Brent said that it would really bring out the sauce flavor more than "regular" pizza, and he was absolutely right!), and the kids plowed through penne with butter and a meatball (perfect kid food) and veggie pizza. My wife is gluten free, and she ordered a cauliflower crust personal bianca pizza that was also delicious - it doesn't taste necessarily like traditional pizza crust, but that doesn't make it bad, by any means, which is saying a lot for gluten-free crust ... suffice it to say that we have PLENTY of leftovers for lunch tomorrow, and probably the next day too!

The beer selection is very fun too - I had an imperial stout from North Carolina, and our friend had "apple pie" cider from Tampa that was delicious, with us being allowed to taste test anything before we ordered a pint.

Jenn, our server, was a delight, very patient with the kids, and the musician who they had playing was very good as well, not over-the-top loud, which I think is very underrated in a restaurant, as most of them I find to be way too loud and make conversation difficult. Tim, one of the bartenders, has some of the best customer service skills I've ever seen in the restaurant business. The number of positive customer service attributes displayed in the first 3 minutes of conversation absolutely blew me away. Being the humble person he is, he chalked up his amazingness to the spectacular management staff that trained him. I will be going back to South Street not only for the food, but for Tim's ability to make the customer feel like they're the only patron in the restaurant.

As far as the food goes, the Buffalo roll was undercooked (cheese not fully melted) and the pizza should have been a few degrees warmer. I have chosen to still provide five stars as the taste of the food, as well as the customer service experience, has always been top notch.

A good place to drink beer, watch tv and listen to live entertainment. Food, beer and entertainment was good, but the service was absolutely atrocious! If you want to have a coversation over dinner, don't go when there is live music. I'm a fairly easy going customer, who rarely finds fault with a restaurant, or takes the time to write a review. However, the service that my family and I received on the evening of 7/24/15 was the worst that I've received since eating inside a Waffle House 18 years ago at 3:00 AM back in college! From the beginning, our waitress was rude and inattentive. Even though it was busy on a Friday night, our waitress never smiled once, or even greeted us when she came to our table. She never asked if we needed anything when our food came out. No silverware until I had to ask the waitress for it a couple of minutes after our food came out. Never asked if we needed refills. My wife and daughter ordered two completely different calzones, but when someone from the kitchen brought the calzones out, he didn't have a clue what was inside each calzone!
