Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Florida

This place has had a habit of being run poorly and making you wait forever when they get busy for the last few years. Not a normal wait time either. I blame the management. Back in 2019 they had me waiting for 40 minutes inside and served about 20 people in the drive through.

But tonight they did something extra dishonest. Tonight they accepted a doordash order only to wait 30 minutes and then cancel it. So here's what they basically did. They didn't want to make the order but didn't want to be accountable so they just ran out the timer and waited until 'closing time'. If they were a real actual honest person they would've finished cooking it at least. Regardless of the likely excuse that they were busy or whatever. My dasher was waiting for them and everything. What they did was dishonest and awful. I wish they were more responsible there. This was highly irritating along with their tendency to make people wait EXTRA LONG for the order. This restaurant in particular gets really annoying with how slow they tend to get. I'm telling you sometimes they'll have you wait extra 20-30 minutes if they're busy, longer than a normal 'busy' fast food restaurant. Imagine the exact opposite of Chick Fil A. The manager literally has been dropping the ball whenever things have been getting hairy. He never figured out how to deal with it like other restaurants. I watched him get promoted too from a worker, always a bit of a slouch even back in 2013. But the food can be good. But a couple of times I had some annoying intentional mistakes, like when I ordered two triples I got two, 'two and a half burgers' , meaning they deliberately ripped the fifth patty in half instead of making 6. The kind of dishonest stuff only a person stuck working minimum wage for life would do. A few years ago there was a felon working the night shift that made me feel uncomfortable with how emotional he got because I calmly asked him not to mistakenly add cheese...

Hello again! Honest review time folks! So, Steak 'n Shake, it's been around forever. Decided after 10 years it was worth another chance! There are so many burger places now that it's comes down to just a few things, flavor, convenience, and service. By the way, Covid almost shut Steak 'n Shake down. They had 2 choices, shut down or go with kiosk's because of social distancing. So they went with kiosk's. I know, I said the same thing when I walked in tonight- no waitresses or waiters?!! Yep. Times are changing people! This location had 6 or 7 of these high tech devices to order from. It's straight forward, trust me, very easy. Pick out what you want, make any adjustments to your burger and boom, your good to go! You get a number and they call you up when your food is ready. We just happened to sit down and a very very nice gentleman, Yusuf, brought the food to our table within just a few minutes. The food was screaming hot. Ok, sorry, im getting carried away, THE FOOD WAS SO FREAKING GOOD! I had the Original Double 'n Cheese combo. Everything on the burger was fresh. EVERYTHING!! Did I say it was screaming hot? The burger was crispy on the edges and the pickles, lettuce, tomatoe and onion seemed to be just cut. The bun was super fresh too. I'm not going to bash any other burger restaurants, but I'm a Chili’s burger person. They are very good too, but I'd have to say the burger at Steak ,'n Shake was, omg, sorry Chili’s, so much better! The burger was out of bounds delicious! The tallow fries and onion rings were AMAZING also! Great flavor! It's a no frills, great service and friendly atmosphere burger restaurant now. Had to get a strawberry shake on the way out too - dont get one, because you'll be back the next day for another one! That was very delicious as well. Hands down a great burger place! My Friend and I have been going to this steak and shake every Sunday,ab out 5:30 pm for 3 years now.We suppossed that it was a training facility as the turn over of personel was high!! We loved going here! The last two Sundays were a differant story. The pace seemed dirty and the last time,it was dirty! Stuff all over the floors ,tables were not cleaned off, we waited for atleast 30 35 minutes for our food! Atleast two couples left asked for the check ,and I imagine ,paid for their drinks and left.thay said they were just too hungry to wait anymore. I aLMOST DID THE SAME. tHEY WERE A LITTLE BUSY BUT NOT NEARLY AS,busy as I have seen it in the past! The only waitresses that looked like they were cleaning up was a slim dark haired girl and a cute,plumpish girl. The other mail and ,I think a cutesi new waitrees did very little.they did help you get a seat,some of the time,and after a table was cleaned off by someone els,e tha cutsi one did wait on the people~ We are going to try again ,but this may be our last time!! It is such a shame that the "great and spotless " place that we have come to enjoy has become " a complete mess! I believe the Manage is a hefty lady with blondish hair! I never write a review like this never but this was just too much! Hope fully,maybe some changes will be maid soon!I hope so for the companies sake and so we can come back the the "pleasant place it used to be!
