UPDATE: 5/5 down to 2/5 Original review can be found below.
After a flawless initial experience, we couldn't wait to introduce this hidden gem to our family who was traveling with us during our second visit. The friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere remained top-notch, creating the ideal setting for our lunch adventure. However, unfortunately, a couple of setbacks put a damper on our return trip. Let's talk about the wait time, folks! 😵 It was a whopping 90 minutes from the moment we placed our order until our food finally graced our table. Now, I don't know about you, but that's way too long for any establishment, especially a calm and serene joint like this one. They blamed it on a big carryout order that came in right before we arrived. Despite the agonizing wait, we were hopeful that the food would blow us away. But, surprise, surprise! The dishes that arrived were nothing like the culinary wonders of our first visit. The only similarity was that they were served piping hot. It quickly became clear that there were two different chefs in the kitchen, which is a real shame because consistency is the name of the game when it comes to running a successful business and keeping customers coming back for more. The flavors were nowhere near as mouthwatering as our first go-around. In fact, they were pretty bland and lacked that comforting goodness we had fallen in love with before. And let me tell you about the fries, my friends. They went from being freshly cut and prepared to sad, frozen, store-bought imitations. Now, I'll give credit where it's due—the waitress was as polite as can be and apologized multiple times for the lengthy wait. We were genuinely hoping that the food would make up for the agonizing delay, but it was one disappointment after another. And let me tell you, when you find that perfect spot, consistency is key. Unfortunately, that's not what we experienced this time around. Due to the glaring inconsistency in both food prep and service, we won't be making a return trip. It's a real shame, folks, but when it comes to our favorite spots, we expect reliability above all else. And that's exactly what we didn't get this time.
Original review. Tucked away in a charming little spot, this place exudes an atmosphere that far exceeds its modest size. The food here is nothing short of fantastic, offering a wide array of mouthwatering options that cater to every palate. Whether it's their irresistible fish and chips, juicy chicken dishes, or downright heavenly burgers, you're in for a treat. The service is absolutely top-notch, with the friendly staff going above and beyond to ensure you feel right at home every step of the way. The dishes are always served fresh and piping hot, providing a comforting and satisfying experience that hits all the right notes. If we were locals, you can bet we'd be regulars at this joint. Heck, we might just have to squeeze in one more visit before we head back to Missouri. Trust me when I say, you don't want to miss out on this gem. Highly recommended, thumbs up all...
Read moreMy wife and I were very excited about going there. We both ordered the fish and chips with The fries well done and an appetizer. The appetizer in the meal arrived at the same time. As i'm sure you know that an appetizer is supposed to be served before a meal to stimulate your appetite. F y I we ordered the southwest egg roll. The southwest egg roll was okay at best and should have been served with some type of dipping sauce in my opinion. The french fries were dark brown and looked great. So the first thing I went for was the French fries that looked crispy and tasty, but when picking them up, they bent in half and broke. Inside was warm. The waitress offered to take the French fries back And give us another order , but by that time my fish would have been cold . I don't know about you but I am afraid to send my food back with the fear that it may be tampered with because I pissed somebody off. The fish was very mild and tasty. And we both enjoyed it although we were looking forward to crispy french fries with vinager. Just something about the two that go together. When the bill arrived , there was no offer of taking the french fries off the bill. She did apologize and said she would bring it to the attention of the cook. The bill for 2 fish and chips with an extra coleslaw a coke and lemon water was forty three dollars. I tipped $5 which I thought was quite generous. Because I thought the waitress could have handled it differently. I take some responsibility for not asking to see a manager. But if you're advertised as a fish and chips restaurant , you should be able to make it correctly. If they would have made an adjustment or offered to redo the meal I would return but at this point I do not think I will give it another chance. We will explore other restaurants. It's a shame because once I find a place that is good I stick with it and would be in a repeat customer. My advice to you would be if the meal is not correct. And they are not willing to redo the complete meal If you're brave enough , or pay for what you ate and drank and ask for the bill. The Fish was quite good but they skimped on the tartar sauce , served in a tiny plastic cup. So the bottom line is one water one coke two fish fillets and a tiny extra cole slaw 48 dollars out the door. Very Very...
Read moreI've never been treated as horrible as I was treated today after leaving Sunday's Grill. I ordered the dorner kebab and was unpleasantly surprised when I arrived home. I anticipated a traditional kebob and I received a gyro. The menu said it came with pita but traditional kebob platters at most places come with pita bread also so I thought nothing of it. I don't like gyros so I returned the food to the restaurant to try and exchange it for something else. I was greeted by a blonde lady (I didn't get her name) with an attitude. I informed her that I don't like gyros and that I was expecting something different. She acted as though she wasn't going to allow me to do another exchange in the beginning. She spoke to me in a patronizing and condescending way in front of customers. She mocked me by continually reiterating how I am supposed to know that the English do kebab's differently. I sat the food on the bar and she did not acknowledge it so I asked my husband to throw it away. He threw it away and she rudely and disgusting asked my husband to retrieve it from the trash. When I presented how disgusting that was to ask a customer to perform such a task, she said "you came In with an attitude." In a situation where a customer is upset, an employee with good customer service skills would have employed de-escalation tactics instead of speaking to customers in a way to make them more irate. I would recommend managers at this restaurant to remind their employees how to be professional and courteous to customers. I will never go to this establishment again. I would not recommend anyone to go here - their problem solving skills are horrible. I do not feel like a valued customer to Sunday's fish and chips. If this happened to me, then it can happen to you. I rarely take time to write reviews but I felt obligated to write one today because this type of treatment should not go unnoticed. I hate the way that encounter made me feel. Myself nor anyone else deserves...
