TGIF Miami – An Unexpected Gem on the Way to Barbados
I usually only leave reviews for places in Barbados, but since this stop was part of my journey there, I figured it deserved a shoutout, because what better way to kick off (or end) a trip than with a great meal?
I didn’t grow up eating pork, so I didn’t taste ribs until I was an adult. Not that I was against it, I happily ate ham at Christmas, but my dad didn’t eat much pork, so it just wasn’t on the menu at home.
Then one day, in between flights at the Miami airport, I was starving. I was traveling with a group, and we ordered a mix of appetizers to share. Without even realizing it, I bit into a rib, and it was life-changing! It opened up a whole new world of dining possibilities. From that moment on, ribs became my go-to dish at restaurants. But honestly? None have ever quite compared to the ones at TGIF in the Miami airport.
Now, it’s tradition. Whenever I pass through, I treat myself to their ribs. with fries and coleslaw (sauce on the side). It’s my guilty pleasure, and while I always hate for any trip to come to an end, this meal somehow softens the goodbye. It’s like comfort food for the traveler’s soul.
The staff is friendly, the service is prompt, and the ribs are consistently tender and full of flavor. I’ve tried many since that first bite, but these remain the gold standard. I’m making up for all the years I missed out!
And while I don’t smoke, it’s worth noting they have a smokers’ section too.
TGIF Miami, you’re such an unexpected gem. Thank you for being the perfect end) to my trips as I return to Barbados, where my adventures...
Read moreMost likely the worst TGI Fridays I ever been. Possible because of the location, inside the secure area at MIA airport so, there is no friendly service at all, the food and we try 5 different appetizers and 5 diners and all and I said all the 9 plates we received were cold and the test very different from others TGIF. Pf course who cares, they don't expect to have have return clients. It's an airport and the chances for you to return to that restaurant at that particular restaurant on that terminal closed to gate D36 is one in what? even if you flight from MIA or connect on MIA and flight let say 3 times week and happens to connect or flight from MIA the adds that you end out close to that gate are not to often even so if you are flying with AA that us located on D terminal. This was my second time at that TGIF, the first time same issues with good snd service but I gave them the benefit of the doubt . But last week and after a bill of 275 dollars for cold test less food, Not again. Everything surrounding the 2 area of the restaurant us dirty that in addition of the not eatable meals. The area of the restaurant that is for smokers, completely super dirty. Back in the time that that area was public and smoking area was cleaned by the airport workers they were there at all times, now that belongs to the restaurant is dirty more than dirty its disgusting. And the attitude of the employees its baldly painfully. Of course as I mention before they don't expect to retain...
Read moreHave been going to TGIF's at different locations once or twice a year. Never bad experience except today at airport Miami. Start off that we were the only one in the "be seated" line. Waited over 5 minutes. First person looked at us and mumbled something then walked away and soon after another person seated us. Tried to download menu on phone and since I just turned on my phone and the service did not kick in, I asked for menu's . Both menu's were wet and my wife's was semi stuck together with something . Ordered appetizer and main course. Usually I order beer or wine but since being up since 3 am I just needed a coke . Wow over half of the glass was half full of crushed ice and a bit of coke for 3.51 . What a rip off .Got our main course and half way through eating it, the waitress finally came to our table asked if we needed anything so we requested our appetizer to be removed from bill since we did not receive it. I don't need to be asked " are you sure" ! The main courses were the quality that I am used to but everything else a let down. There was not one employee that I saw that showed anything close to a smile. To me , everything seemed to be an effort for any employee. Had the food not been as expected, I would not have given any tip but for the first time in years and years, I gave only a very small tip so that it was know that the tip was not forgotten . With so many restaurants options available, it is likely this will be my last TGIF meal for...
