First off... for everyone who knows Wawa, THIS one is one that you will want to order lunch from and sit outside... as it's the only Wawa in the country where you can stare across the street and watch Roller Coasters, and listen to the screams and laughter from the SeaWorld visitors riding them. It's really awesome! But I must say this: I really don't understand how someone could give such an amazing place like Wawa a 1-star review unless you the reviewer either didn't get something free or didn't understand how to operate the (very easy to understand)ordering screens in front of you.) And wouldn't you attempt to have your nightmare of an experience resolved beforehand? This company has such history... yes this is the very first Wawa Convenience Store/Gas Station to pop up in Florida, but the company goes back several decades. I'm 32, and when I was 9 years old and waiting for Mom and/or Dad to get back home with Wawa Hoagies - my excitement, along with my three other brothers - was literally bouncing off the walls crazy. When I moved from NJ to Florida in my mid 20s, the food and drink and the gas prices of Wawa were the things I missed most besides my family and friends. But then four years later in 2012 when this first Floridian Wawa opened, and just a mile from my house... it was just unreal. And when I went to the Grand Opening, apparently 60,000 other people thought the same thing because people came from all over Florida... from Key West, Miami, Naples, all the way up north and went throught the panhandle; there were lots of people who drove from Georgia, and we even heard from some families from New Orleans! So for someone who hasn't been to a Wawa yet, or you truly don't understand all the hype... step inside one and order some fresh food or drink... or the next time you're low on gas, check the gas prices of what's around you. Without a doubt Wawa will always best their competitors.
Want to know why the name, "Wawa"? If you notice the logo, it's a flying bird above the word Wawa. It's a Canadian Goose, which are EVERYWHERE up there. Well... in the language of the Native Americans who settled in the NJ/PA/DE/MD areas, Wawa was their word to describe the goose. And now, the company's headquarters are so large, they have a whole town in Pennsylvania called Wawa, PA, with their original first store still standing, although...
Read moreMost of the staff here are fine, though they have a few “slow” people even after being months on the job. The food is genuinely the most hit-or-miss I’ve ever experienced. Never been a fan of their chicken nor turkey. Very flavorless and/or old tasting. The pizza is also super mid; on par with CiCi’s. For the price you pay you are a whole lot better off going to Taco Bell literally next door or Wendy’s just down the street with much better service to boot. Their overnight manager is a genuine a-hole though. She stares down every customer and verbally abuses people who have the misfortune of having to deal with her. Seriously idk who hurt her in her life but she actually needs to get some help. I would’ve been fired if I acted half the way she goes about her business. For the very FIRST Wawa in Florida ever, this is a really embarrassing standard they’ve dropped themselves to, especially when there’s other late-night joints available. Not even their gas or retail can be worth the trip as even with rewards perks they’re still the highest in the area; on par with CVS and Shell. Better off going to the three 7-Elevens that are within a mile from here in that regard. If it weren’t for the general convenience-first culture of America and the fact it’s right next to SeaWorld of all places, this location would’ve bit the dust. Unless that’s all you care about then you should hold yourself to a higher standard and take your money somewhere else. I’m done with Wawa treating me like crap and making me wait 30+ minutes for a half-jacked panini...
Read moreWawa is close to my house, 24 hours, they have gas at this location but like every gas station right now, their prices are high. They are now starting to have hot food on their menu, they're definitely expanding in that area. However, they don't have the best collection of candy or snacks, the store section is very limited. It's a good place for coffee, fountain soda, the typical drinks you'd find in a cooler at basically any convenient store, frozen drinks like smoothies, milkshakes, blended or iced coffee, and a decent selection of salads, pastries, hogies, sandwiches, and breakfast stuff. They are on the expensive side, especially if you order through a third party for delivery like Uber eats or GrubHub. Definitely not worth the upcharge. Lastly, they stop selling all frozen drinks around 2AM - 7/8AM. So they really aren't 24 hours, at least not for everything in the store. I was told it is because they clean their "blending machine" during that time. I feel like this shouldn't take all night. Regardless, all locations do the exact same routine. I can't order my favorite smoothie from any Wawa during those hours, which is when I usually crave it!
Wawa: you should really upgrade THAT part of your store. Just get another blender at...
