Review of "Surfers Sol" Managed by Carolina One, but more of a review on Carolina One customer service overall.
Our recent stay at "Surfers Sol," managed by Carolina One, left much to be desired. Despite the promising location and potential, our experience was marred by a series of disappointments and frustrations that overshadowed any positive aspects.
Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by a broken HVAC system with no prior warning. Despite assurances of prompt resolution, we endured three days and two nights without adequate heating or cooling. What exacerbated the situation was the lack of communication regarding technician appointments, resulting in missed opportunities to rectify the issue and robbing us of precious time to enjoy the surrounding attractions.
Compounding matters, the management company's promise of a refund for each night impacted by HVAC issues turned out to be a mere fraction of what was initially communicated upon check-out. This bait-and-switch tactic only added insult to injury.
Furthermore, our concerns regarding the cleanliness and maintenance of the property were met with indifference. It took repeated requests to address issues such as a blood-stained blanket in the master bedroom and unexpected intrusions during our stay, including individuals conducting a septic review without prior notice.
The property itself was disappointing, with worn-out furniture and an alarming lack of privacy. The use of sliding barn doors for every internal room left us feeling exposed and vulnerable, lacking even basic sound suppression or locking mechanisms.
Most disappointing of all was the management company's attitude towards customer service. Rather than displaying empathy and urgency in resolving our concerns, their responses were often dismissive and even bordering on snarky. Attempts to shift blame onto third-party contractors or previous renters only highlighted their lack of accountability and commitment to customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, our experience with "Surfers Sol" under the management of Carolina One was nothing short of disappointing. We cannot recommend this property to others until significant improvements are made in both the maintenance of the property and the professionalism of the...
Read moreMy fiancé and I took our parents and eight-month old to stay at this property (301 E Arctic Ave) on Labor Day weekend and had the best time! The property exceeded expectations as far as location to downtown, convenience to the beach, and overall cleanliness of the property. The kitchen was large and perfect for cooking and entertaining a group of people! The TV in the living room was also perfect to watch college football all weekend (with a nice view of the waves in the background). Rooms were large and comfortable, especially the amazing master suite with the beach view. We loved that people in our group could go back and forth from the beach to property in seconds to make a sandwich or grab a drink, and that there was enough space to hang out in the covered or open porch areas outside to watch the sunsets. One of our favorite things happened to be the outdoor shower. We ended up taking our shampoo and wash outside to take warm outdoor showers after a long day at the beach - these showers were a hit with the kids! The view was perfect, and you can see the beach from every angle inside the main dining/living area of the house. There was also plenty of parking, so this eliminated stress. The walk to downtown Folly was just the right amount. The house is far enough away from the main pier that it was less busy, but the walk was still around ten minutes to grab food at Rita's or Lost Dog (our favorites). It is also close to Bert's, which has everything you need (ice, beer, good ice cream, food, snacks). Lastly, communication with Carolina One was great. We were in fear that Folly was flooded from a recent storm, and they responded almost immediately. Unlike many large rental companies, Carolina One was attentive and cares about the customer. We would love to stay at this property again in the future and...
Read moreNever will I ever recommend this company or it's properties. The home we stayed in for 4 nights at $3600.00+ was riddled with water damage, actual dirt from one of the lower level bedrooms from the outside, dead worms, no carpet on lower floor, sofa in horrific condition. Entire place smelled so bad it made you sneeze/get symptomatic from mycotoxins. My visitors consisting of 11 people came to celebrate my son's 6th birthday from out of town. My son and I couldn't even stay there. Upon notifying the rental company they sent out a cleaning person and a gentleman from the office who stated to us upon leaving that we should be moved - insinuating it was unacceptable to even HIM. Side note, pretty sure it's illegal to have a first floor occupied in a flood zone. Checked out a day early to receive an insulting refund for what we were told would be the remaining time unused. It was not even close to what it should have been. DO NOT RENT FROM CAROLINA ONE. First time in 6 years renting a large home on Folly from them. I'm sharing with everyone how horrible this was. We will never ever rent from them again. Hoping our symptoms subside soon from the toxicity we were exposed to. The pics are from 1 of the floors - visible rust from wet conditions, paint was peeling all throughout the property, beadboard was warped... Management didn't give a rats ass. They claimed no one complained about the property. RUN DON'T WALK to Charleston Coast Vacations by dunes. They have been amazing over the years. Solutions? Other than a full refund - Where were 13 people supposed to go from out of town??? You did NOT offer a solution. You said too bad this is...
