Nice return to the chain since many years ago. Not for lack of liking Mimi’s but life changes that I haven’t been at a Mimi’s in a while. Last we as in Tri-Valley East Bay Area. Met a friend here yesterday and the experience was great. As always, the exterior or the building is immediately identifiable by the cottage look. Adorable! In the nice weather we had, the outside patio was inviting. However, my friend wanted to indoors today. The inside seating is divided into the front area where hostess station is as well as dining rooms to the right and straight ahead. It was nice to see a good selection on the sizable menu but not the 100 page tome some restaurants have to try and do everything. Breakfast is all day, by the way. I chose the Tuscan Chicken. Cut tender chicken meat with a ton of vegetables all cooked perfect (crisp, not soggy), on a bit of mashed potato, and a light sauce. OMG! I was in heaven. And the Triple Berry Iced Tea…well, I had three! So glad we went as I tend to drive by often and forget it is there. That won’t be happening again as I will be back often.

I’m really sorry to say this, but their quiche was disappointing. I’m not rven sure why they chose to highlight it as a signature item on their menu. Quiche can be served hot, warm, or cold, but the crust should always be flaky and crisp—that’s the base of savory French Tart!!!!! Unfortunately, the one I had had a strong eggy, almost fishy smell (even my husband, who eats raw eggs, noticed it), and the crust was soggy, as if it had been microwaved or re-steamed from the day before.. It was a so-so breakfast for both my husband and me. The breakfast taco was good (though it’s hard to mess that up), and the French toast was enjoyable. However, I was really disappointed because we had such a great experiences at the Roseville location. The food there (different menu) was excellent, and the service was super friendly. The server wasn’t particularly friendly, but he wasn’t rude or inattentive either. He just seemed to have a naturally blunt personality. We came in with high expectations, but this visit fell short... Sadly, we won’t be coming back.

The food was great, and the restaurant was beautiful. Not alot of vegetarian/vegan options, but that's just personal taste, not part of the rating. Just wanted to let people know just in case that's really important to anyone. Otherwise, incerdible. They also have drinks not listed on the menu (as far as I could tell), so make sure to inquire about that if you are to eat there. They also have baguettes and these little sweet roll things, as well as butter, that I beleive comes with the table. I'd recommend it. A bit pricy, but not too bad, and delicious food with wonderful service and an absolutely lovely atmosphere.

I'm not one to write reviews, so keep in mind I guess I'm one of those people who only leave negative feedback. When we arrived at Mimi's in Folsom it seemed a bit busy, and we were told it would be a 35-minute wait. Considering we had two little kids in tow, we didn't want to spend the time getting them back in the car, driving somewhere else, only to have another wait. We were seated within 15-20 minutes, which was great, but then the lack of service really took hold. My children (2.5 years and 11 months) had devoured an entire ziploc bag of Cheerios, a big bag mind you. By that time (10:20, 20 minutes after being seated), I flagged someone down. The only person nearby was the hostess, who immediately went to talk to our server. (I saw the conversation take place.) It was another 10 minutes at least before our server came out from her little cave near the kitchen to take our order. There were no apologies or suggestions that they were short-staffed. She just took our order. We placed all of our order: drinks, muffins, and breakfast plates. Fast forward 20 minutes, and we had not received even our drinks. Nor were we provided water! At that point we decided to abandon ship and go to McDonald's for a fast breakfast. Never again will I ever go to that Mimi's in Folsom. The management either didn't staff enough people, they were allowing the host/hostess to seat too many parties, or their wait staff were not qualified to handle the volume of people at the restaurant that day. The only thing I can say in their defense is Folsom is immediately adjacent to El Dorado Hills, which is without power because of the PG&E power outages. There were more patrons than normal. If our server (or even the host/hostess) had mentioned this from the outset, we would have been more empathetic; however, our server barely took down our order. I saw people seated before us get drinks and presumably food. I saw three other parties in our section leave because service was so slow. (In fact, we saw one of the parties at McDonald's.) Unless you aren't hungry, aren't entertaining little ones, and aren't in a hurry, you should go to this Mimi's, but if you fall under any one of the three categories, don't bother with the...

Disappointing Experience at Mimi's Cafe:

*A word of advice to others: Please double-check your pickup order and ensure you have received what you actually ordered before leaving the restaurant. It could save you a lot of time and frustration.

We placed a pickup order at Mimi's Cafe, only to find that our order had been given to someone else... While mistakes can happen, it was the way the staff handled the situation that was frustrating. My spouse immediately requested a refund, but we were left waiting for almost an hour without clear communication or resolution. Initially, the staff claimed they couldn't issue a refund receipt due to a system malfunction, and then said the refund wouldn't be processed until the following Tuesday because the responsible staff member was absent. This delay was particularly frustrating, as it felt like our money was being held without a clear explanation of why the issue couldn't be resolved sooner. After multiple requests and discussions, my spouse eventually spoke with the manager, Rob, who provided an email confirmation for the refund. While we appreciated that, it shouldn’t have taken an hour of waiting and multiple conversations to receive a simple apology and written confirmation. In situations like this, timely communication and taking ownership of the mistake would have gone a long way. While we understand things can go wrong, the lack of urgency and clarity in resolving the issue left a negative impression. We hope the staff at Mimi's can improve in handling customer concerns more efficiently in the future.

**I will update this review if I do not receive the refund promised by...
