I Scream Shop — Restaurant in Forest Hills

The sign on their wall indicates one of the issues with this business....."Please be patient" so it kinda makes long waits bearable and the staff is most always friendly and will acknowledge long waits. It seems they staff minimally at all times. It is a family run business and they are very friendly and thankful for the business. The other issue are the prices. I know it's not a chain and they do offer chain store amounts of flavors, but it's hard to swallow being charged $12 for a 16oz milkshake, or a $13 banana split sundae. The products are not unique in any manner to warrant the prices, nor how they are arranged or ingredients. I always leave feeling uneasy because the bill is north of $20 for two people with simple orders. I do overlook this issue as much as I can because they are family run, and not that it makes a difference, but an African American family, which I will always support and give preference too if able.

Lastly, I know buildings have plumbing issues before stores lease and it's normally up to the landlord to resolve issues, but I have been in the store at 2 difference occasions and there was a heavy, sewage type smell. They do try to mitigate the odors with fragrances and dehumidifiers etc, but I hope they get the landlord to address that issue.

I would recommend this store and you will be impressed with the variety and friendliness, but again be prepared to wait a little longer and pay a little...

The ice cream was really great!! I nice change from the prepackaged tasting stuff you get elsewhere. I got the banana cream pie in a waffle cone and it was amazing. It tasted like real actual banana, the marshmallow gave a whipped topping taste, and the nilla wafers mixed in kept some texture while still being able to be licked away. My mom got the pistachio which she thoroughly enjoyed. It had whole pistachios in it and looked amazing. She said it reminded her of what Baskin Robins used to be. They have the basic flavors if you want (even chocolate and vanilla soft serve!), a wide variety of scoops ranging from butter pecan to matcha to "tired parent" (bourbon spiked espresso!) With as wide of a variety of toppings and forms (cone, bowl, waffle cone/bowl, choco waffle bowl, sundae, split, milkshake, and more). They even have dairy free and vegan options as well as gluten free cones (although it probably still comes into contact so not good for celiacs). I wish i would have taken more pics of our purchase and the options but alas i was too busy eating. I wish i knew about this place sooner but I never really saw it during my trips to aldi before but now Ill have to come this way more...

Very nice ice cream shop, with a menu that offers all the classics as well as some very cool specialty items. I got to try out their brownies (they also serve a variety of baked foods outside of just ice cream) and their strawberry cheesecake milkshake.

Both were delicious. I was especially surprised by how amazing the brownies were. Awesome portion size, very chocolatey, pretty rich, and great texture as well.

The milkshake was also great. Portion was nice, and they managed to get a nice strawberry flavor. I will say the base itself doesn’t have much of a cheesecake flavor to it, but they include little bits of cheesecake throughout the milkshake to make up for that.
