I was recently at the Giant Eagle shopping center on Yost Boulevard in Braddock Hills. This review is not meant to keep shoppers from going there, but to be honest with my most recent trip there and share my own experience. Although I am very familiar with the area having grown up close by, it had been many years since I had last been there. As I exited my car I was immediately drawn by screams toward a loud commotion in front of the Propel School. I estimated there were between 25-30 younger people violently fighting in the parking lot. As I called 911 a police SUV pulled up to the scene. A woman told me this happens almost daily. Very sad and very dangerous. There are many businesses such as Giant Eagle, a beer distributor, CCAC satellite center, a Family Dollar store, a state liquor store, Propel School, and long time fixture, Rudy's Subs as well as a few others. These are ALL very reputable places who offer a variety of goods and services. I really do not think that the violence is or should be a reflection on them. If you live nearby or are passing through this shopping center it is a very convenient place to do some shopping. My review is mainly to inform and assist you in knowing the facts of an area...
Read moreIt's a shopping center in a low rent part of town, so that means you've got the staples like a laundromat, nail salon, dollar store, Rent-A-Center, vape shop and liquor store. There is a beer distributor, which isn't bad, and a Giant Eagle, which is overly expensive, considering there's an Aldi less than a mile away.
Also home to the Propel Braddock Hills school complex, which is a complete joke as far as schools are concerned. It's run more like a daycare/asylum rather than an actual school.
The parking lot is huge, considering the number of stores present, so if anyone thought to perhaps build another business or two, they wouldn't be hurting for space. That being said, the lane markers are mere suggestions, so be aware that high-speed traffic may be approaching from any direction. On weekends, it looks like a...
Read moreI spend a lot of time here at Braddock Hills Shopping Center! Mostly at the Giant Eagle! I shop at Family Dollar now and then, too. The main reason I shop at this Giant Eagle location is convenience...it is very close to my home & easy to get to quickly. If I had a vehicle of my own, though, I WOULD NOT shop so often at this particular Giant Eagle location! Their stock is very limited due to demographics, I feel. In layman’s terms, they don’t sell much of what other Giant Eagle locations sell! For the basics like milk and bread, this Giant Eagle in Braddock Hills Shopping Center is fine. If you want something “different”, you are better off going to another location, for instance, The Waterfront...
