I just started going to Indian restaurants this year and I've been to a handful of them in central Illinois. This was my first time dining here but I have ordered door dash before. This time I ordered the saag chicken and was not impressed, compared to other Indian restaurants it lacked flavor. I've learned each Indian restaurant has a little different flavor and this one just l had a little spice but was bland overall. I also ordered garlic naan as I don't eat rice and every other Indian restau1rant I've dined in at they offer naan or rice with the meal but this place did not. The naan was great but was half as much as you get from other Indian restaurants and more expensive. The saag chicken was also more expensive than others. The meal was brought to my table and I was given no silverware and was told where to get plastic cutlery. I was also given a paper plate to eat on which for the price I think was ridiculous and frankly ghetto. Any other Indian restaurants I've dined in at they all seem to take great pride in serving your food on actual plates, fancy bowls, and quality cutlery. This place did not my saag chicken was served to me in the same container you receive from them when you order door dash. My honest opinion is that this is an Indian restaurant that is cutting corners on seasoning and dishes just to charge as if it was quality Indian food and it is not. The way the chicken was not tender at all, I don't know if it was supposed to be cooked in a tandoori oven or not but compared to others it was mediocre at best. I do not recommend this place because there are way better options in town. It was one of those places that asked for a tip before you ever got your food and I should've left when I saw that. I even tipped too like an idiot, I almost asked for my tip back. If you've tasted quality Indian food before you know this place doesn't have it.
As far as it being a more fast food atmosphere is a poor excuse for poor service in my opinion. Every Indian restaurant I've been to always has fast service. Any restaurant that gives me plastic cutlery and paper plates to dine in with should reflect in the price.
I think they can make the common dishes Americans typically order (ie butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, etc) but anything outside of that they have yet to master...
Read moreWhile going to West Lafayette IN, this was on our way. Restaurant was within a mall. On Friday after noon - there was no other customer(red sign)-but still I wanted to give it a try. Tried vegetable platter-mini thali kind of stuff which has rice and two curries(one paneer butter masala and one chick peas). For my other family member - it was paneer butter masala and one dal tadka. I was under the impression that Naan was included but that was not the case and they charged extra for that. Paneer butter masala was okay but seems to have too much tomato catch-up and preservative(as it seems they have very less customers and want to have the same food to last for months). Chola or chick peas the same issues. Dal tadka was real disappointment. Vegetable fried rice - seems to be made a week back and just heated up. Naan was okay. For two people, this came out to be around $36(including taxes) - with food served on disposable and almost self service. Well it seems this is a place where nobody will visit...
Read moreI recently visited a restaurant with an amazing concept. They use the old ordering style, similar to Panda Express, where you can order a side and two entrees. The best part is that everything can be made to order and they offer several options. The service was fantastic - the staff member was very thoughtful and helped my wife choose the right items. She even allowed us to sample items before making a decision. All items are listed as mild, but you can make them spicy if you ask. My wife absolutely loved the garlic naan (highly recommended). I also noticed they offer ice cream, which I'll definitely try next time. If you're not a fan of curry or haven't tried it before, I would highly recommend visiting this restaurant. The staff will be happy to offer you something to try, and I'm sure you'll find something you like. This is definitely not...
