Bernillo's Pizza: A Hidden Gem in Historic Downtown Fort Bragg

As visitors from Yuba City, CA, and self-proclaimed pizza enthusiasts, our culinary adventure led us to Bernillo's Pizza in Fort Bragg, CA. After three nights of exploring the town's offerings, we stumbled upon this unassuming pizza place, and what a delightful treat it turned out to be!

At first, we were intrigued by the low number of reviews for Bernillo's, especially when the local competition seemed flooded with feedback. Our curiosity got the best of us, and we decided to give this place a chance, and boy, are we glad we did! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by a couple of the friendliest business owners we've encountered in a long time. They took the time to chat with us, learn about where we were from, and our favorite pizza places.

We soon discovered that Bernillo's has been a part of the community since 1980, with the current owners infusing their creativity into the menu, offering not only pizza but also a variety of options, the atmosphere inside the restaurant was very inviting, with good music playing in the background. Though the room is on the smaller side, it exudes a charming beauty that adds to the overall dining experience. We even noticed they had Chivetv playing on the TVs, a fantastic choice that added to the relaxed ambiance.

For our pizza choice, we opted for a Vegetarian pizza with white sauce and added artichokes. While waiting for our pizza to cook, we found a delightful wooden Tic Tac Toe game at our table, which kept us entertained and added a playful touch to the afternoon.

When the pizza arrived, the aroma was heavenly, and one bite confirmed that it tasted just as amazing as it smelled. Every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh, from the perfectly cooked dough to the mouthwatering white sauce and the delightful pull of cheese that every pizza aficionado dreams of. The flavors harmonized beautifully, and the added artichokes elevated the experience even further. The whole pizza was a true delight that left us wanting more.

It's evident that Bernillo's Pizza deserves more recognition and love from the pizza-loving community. The new owners have infused the place with a creative spark, and their dedication to crafting delicious pizzas is evident in every bite.

What a great way to end a Thursday night than some time with my son and a meal at Bernillo's Pizzeria & Subs. I’ve been going to this spot since before I moved to the coast at the turn of the century, there are many great memories and it has a special place in my heart 💜. Tonight I caught a glimpse of something I hadn’t seen there before, Pork Belly. I am a huge fan of this wonderfully delectable treat and try it everywhere I can. Tonight is the first time I’ve had it on a sub so no more 🍒 🤔😳🙄🙈. It was fabulous full of flavor on a roll that was the perfect balance between soft and hard bread garnished with fresh vegetables. Let me start with they DO NOT make subs like it says online and like their yelp name says and shows. When we tried ordering a meatball sub we were rudely told they do not make sandwhiches and they do not have an online website.

We ordered 3 pizzas and a salad and were told that it would be 40 minutes. It ended up being over 1 hour, which was tough with an impatient toddler but we understood they were busy.

Once we got back to our house, we realized they made a mistake with our order and did not include a cheese pizza, which was for our kids.

We called and spoke with Meg who was extremely rude about the situation. It is obvious she does not care for her customers or for customer service. She was so unwelcoming and did not deserve our business.
