My husband had an incredibly racist experience here. He was picking up an order for me. I am white, he is not. He tried to show them the screenshot I sent him of our order and they gave him the wrong order because there seemed to be two under the same or similar names. He speaks English fluently and the woman he interacted with accused him of taking the wrong order (he took what they gave him), kept asking, "Entiende??" forcing him to say that he understands English and doesn't need them to speak to him in Spanish, yelled at him to leave and said she was going to "cancel and request another driver," and he had to say, "Liz Bennett is my wife," and they still didn't seem to believe him. He tried to show them the screenshot of order info again and finally another woman working figured out it was the other order that was ready. He's said this was one of the most overtly racist interactions he's ever had in Fort Collins. We'll never order from them again and I will make it my business to tell everyone about his experience.
Edited to respond to owner's response: He said he was picking up an ORDER, not for Uber, and tried to show the screenshot. My husband is an incredibly calm and even-keeled person who tends to take people not understanding his accent in stride, so for him to feel so upset by this interaction tells me, beyond his recounting what happened, that he felt disrespected and discriminated against. Speaking Spanish isn't disrespectful, but if the entire interaction has been in English and then it's implied that he's stupid because there is confusion, then that's...
Read moreI hesitate to share my concerns, but I feel it's necessary as I’ve reached a breaking point with this establishment. My initial introduction to the place was through various delivery services, and while I was drawn to its offerings, my experience has since taken a turn.
One of my primary frustrations is how the employees continue to refer to me as "sir" and "him," despite my polite requests to avoid those misgendering terms. While one owner has made an effort to address this, others have not, and it happened again today.
I also attempted to enjoy their services as a customer, but I was turned away simply because I don’t want butter on my order. After being refused twice over this seemingly minor preference, I've decided it’s not worth the hassle to try again.
Today was particularly disheartening when I went to pick up an order and was met with an uncomfortable situation. An older female employee confronted me for not having a bag, despite my explanation that I keep them in my car and can retrieve one if needed. Rather than allowing me to explain, she interrupted and dismissed me, patting my shoulder and expressing that it costs her 30 cents for a bag. It’s important to note that the usual practice here has been simply handing over the items without a bag.
I find it perplexing how this establishment can fluctuate between being warm and welcoming one moment and then unexpectedly rude the next. I genuinely care about this place and its potential, but I am seriously reconsidering my association if these experiences continue. I truly hope they can turn things around...
Read moreThe worst Kolache place in Colorado. I ordered two "Boudin & Jack Pepper Cheese" Kolaches. I took a bite of one, and it was egg and something. I thought they just made a mistake and gave me the wrong one... so i took it to them and let the lady know it wasn't a Boudin Kolache. She grabbed the Kolache out of my hand, ripped it open, and said that it was a Boudin Kolache. Then she threw all my Kolaches away with an attitude. I pointed out that the label didn't say anything about egg in it and went wrote it on the glass. I could not eat egg and was misled. She said that boudin is too expensive to put in them. And the other lady just told me, " I hope this is the worst thing that We'll happen to you this week." And told me that I was being very rude. You don't have to worry about me making this mistake again. BTW I wasn't upset, I just thought it was going to be an ez fix. I honestly didn't know that was what you said it was. The lady that snatched it out my hand was being aggressive to the point of making sure she had it correctly written with a sharpie on the glass. I really would have taken any other selection that didn't have egg in it instead of just throwing them away and giving my money back. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings about not putting enough of the ingredient that it was originally labeled as. Egg is an ingredient that I can not eat, and the label deceived me. I didn't expect to be eating egg and simply thought it...
