Yikes. 1st and last time here. A kids meal 1 tender, which is like 1/2 a chicken tender anywhere else. Most places kids get a minimum of 2 tenders. Didn't even put it together ordering. The menu says tender or Mac and cheese. It's my fault for not reading it correctly as single. Of course, the rest of the menu explicity specifies the number or pieces the menu item comes with. Again my error. For sure. Inconsistent, though. Had the tender been regular size and not small or cut in half and then breaded and cooked would have been ok. However, as the classic "southern" was very bland, the chicken is most likely not broken down, breaded, and seasoned in house. Saw other reivews saying supply issue and they try make up the smaller size by increasing the amount they give. Obviously, it's not happening consistently. As the other families around us, we're having the same issue. A piece of bread and side and a drink. If the chicken was good actually seasoned, not overcooked to unedible for my kid, it might be a good value. Thankfully, I took out the undersized tenders from my sandwich and gave it to my kids. Price wasn't even that bad for a kids' meal, but the quality and size value was not there. 1/2 of one of my kids' tender was not able to be eaten it was so overcooked. My kids got the Mac and cheese as a side. I'm not sure how noodles in queso qualify as Mac and cheese. Anytime I see twisty noodles in Mac and cheese, you know it's not good and definitely not a good recipe. You could easily find a good recipe that would be 10x better than whatever that was. My kids ate it because they were hungry, not because it's good. Dumped the very small portion out on the tray and tried to scape the queso off the noodles. I know Nashville and the south season their chicken and have quality Mac and cheese. I really wanted to like this place. I had wanted to try this for a long time and finally made it. It's not worth it.
Your staff was nice from our limited interaction. Restaurant had a good vibe. The food did not take it home.
I liked the table markers being unique, but it doesn't seam to work for your staff to bring the right food to the right tables. We had our food and had 4 different people come by asking us if the food they had was ours. They walked through the whole restaurant. Asking each table the same thing. Maybe you need to streamline this process with better or easier table markers so people get their food. Seams to...
Read moreFirst time shopper. Before I dive into my experience, I’ll score my overall rating so that those who just scroll can gauge their instant gratification.
I would give this a reasonable 8.6 out of 10, but this platform only allows for five stars… so we’ll round up just to keep things simple.
I’m the type of person who looks for a family sized Paqui bag of the one-chip challenge so I have something to binge on while I watch Mulan. So when I asked for something spicy, I wasn’t anticipating anything in the realm of evil.
My words verbatim, “I’ll take the hottest you offer without paying anything extra”, as I prefer to bargain shop for toilet paper. My partner on the other hand asked for no spicy. It is true, we are extremists.
After filling my shot-glass sized children’s cup of water, we waited in the car for our call. It may have been somewhat distasteful for us to listen to Louisiana Big Band while we waited, but what’s the harm in a genre crossover?
It’s but a few minutes shy of our estimated wait time that the server yodels a glorious tune of my partners name out of the window. This was a moment straight out of the movies.
To my delighted surprise, the lingering discomfort of the spice was much like fiberglass in my throat. I couldn’t brag about the sweat I dripped from incendiary heat…but the flavor???
From testing the waters, to removing the bib, I was in a glee of dance and song. The gods have blessed my little tastebuds with a divine intervention. The rich and robust dry seasoning was much like how I imagine Gordon Ramsay‘s luscious lips taste. Chef’s kiss.
If I had any further suggestions: Provide every customer with a plaque, or a directors cut credit roll with every meal. It would be appropriate to list and celebrate the staff for their exquisite service...
Read moreIt's frustrating to leave this type of review on a place I have such positive memories of. When I was in college (about a decade ago now), Music City was the go-to place for chicken and beer. It was always busy, and the food was worth bragging about. I came back to FoCo with a friend to just enjoy food and hang out. I suggested this place, and he thought I was crazy for bragging this place up. I have never known Music City to be that dead. Even on snowy days, it used to be packed. Then we got our food, and I think that might be part of why. My friend's two-piece chicken had one breaded and one battered piece, which, if both were consistent, then it wouldn't have been strange. I ordered the nashville hot chicken and got something that resembled nashville hot but with no spiciness or seasoning at all, just a red oil look. The mac n cheese was just noodles and peppers in a watery cheese sauce. The fries were good, though, so that is a positive. Objectively, the cook on the chicken was good. I will not give under 3 stars to food that isn't outright bad. The chicken was edible, and the ranch and house sauce were good for chicken dipping. But, things are definitely not the way I remember them in terms of flavor and consistency. The service was simple, and the staff only brought out the food. The customer does everything else. So, there is no point in talking up a service review. The atmosphere was just as I remembered, which was nostalgic. So, that was a positive as well. It still feels like a place where people would want to go and hang out. If I find myself in FoCo again for whatever reason, I might stop by again. It could be (and I sincerely hope) it was just an off day in...
