I think there are good things about Mugs, and then a few less-than-great things.
First, I'm a bit confused about their "Daily Happy Hour from 3-6." I came at 4:30 and asked for a grilled cheese sandwich (listed on the Happy Hour menu) and I was told that the kitchen is never open past 3. I pointed out the "Happy Hour" bit of the menu and the poor, apologetic cashier seemed just as confused as I was. This isn't the first, or even the second, time that I've been told that the food I wanted to order was unavailable for one reason or another :-(
I've been looking at some of the other more recent reviews, and I agree with what some people have been saying about the sub-par customer service. I'm not saying that absolutely everyone here is a bad worker, but I'm sure there are plenty of friendly and hard-working college students who would love to work at Mugs. How do they end up with all of these workers who have trouble even cracking a smile?
Otherwise, Mugs is one of the more comfortable coffee lounges to spend time in. They have plenty of outlets spread around and their drinks are always good. The art from local artists hanging on the walls is very pretty and it's awesome that they're supporting local artists. There are several nice pieces that are available to buy.
There are also some pretty tasty looking things to eat in their front cooler area, but it never seems like they have the same food day after day, so you can't really count on being able to order something one day that you just ordered a week ago. That said, there seems to be a pretty good selection on the weekends.
I'd say give Mugs a shot and judge it for yourself! The owners have created a very comfortable and aesthetically appealing coffee shop and they clearly know what they're doing when it comes to coffee. I consider Mugs to definitely be one of the better places in FoCo to go to study, hang out with friends, or just grab a drink. Might want to grab lunch...
Read moreUnfortunately going out of my way to bring this to attention. I have completed over 2,000 deliveries and this was unexcusable. Sunday late morning, not a rush, I arrived to pickup a door dash order. Your restaurant is set up to wait and grab the order off of the pickup shop as I've done simply before. There were THREE women working there. MEG was taking care of all the drinks another girl chatting with her, only allowed to work the register and not help her coworker, and a third passing me multiple times opening cabinets for inventory. I did not want to inundate the line as your restaurant is set up anyway so I continue to wait patiently 20 minutes past before I realized the order wasn't being prepared so I asked Meg the barista if she was working on the dd order, its 20 minutes late. She says "I know" turns her back register girl hands a bag they throw a burrito in the bag and then hand me the drink. I decided to let her know I was trying to be patient but next time I will ask. Mean while she never made eye contact with me or said sorry or even smiled. I also made a point to let her know it is very rude to not make eye contact with your customers. I seen other customers pick up their drink, they told her thank you and she was too busy chitchat with her co-workers to even give them a smile. Fort Collins locals are known for being too nice, whatsup with these girls? Im not sure why staff is bothered by Dasher orders but your loyal customer got their order 40 minutes past delivery time. Also I have a contract violation for being late and will communicate this to door dash, I made your customer aware of the fact I wasn't acknowledged...
Read moreOur experience didn't reflect the rating. I visited with two children. Atmosphere was very average. Firstly, no tables were available inside - all occupied by people with computers, so we were forced to eat outside. I ordered Mac and cheese and rather than delivering it to the table, it was placed at the Uber Eats 'pick-up' area. Not sure why they couldn't be bothered to deliver it to our table. There was a long wait until I became concerned about the absence of our food. I was placed in a position where I had to leave my child with our drinks at the table outside to wait in line to follow-up on it. Needless to say it was cold. I was disappointed they didn't offer a replacement or refund given they were aware of their mistake. I was also disappointed that I wasn't acknowledged and was forced to wait in line in order to follow-up on our meal. First time I've experienced this in the U.S. The food and drinks we had was very average - we tried some of their pastries (chocolate croissant, muffin), wrap, Mac & cheese and coffee. We were in Fort Collins downtown for a number of days and found alternative cafes/restaurants in the area that offered better food...
