Sushi JeJu Review: *Reason for 1-star review: Distressingly unpleasant customer service, communcation, and manners, which I believe is the face and foundation of a business.
DISCLOSURE: I have not eaten here. I'm writing this review on behalf of two very respectful college-aged folx who were poorly treated by Sushi JeJu and refused service after waiting over an hour for a table. Date of incident: 3/10/21 at 8:30pm.
I was drawm to JeJu because I noticed a handful of empty tables outside with lots of customers sitting out, so I parked. I entered and asked the hostess for a menu. Hostess said there are no open tables and they are no longer seating folx. I asked if they're doing take-out and askef again if I could please see a menu. Hostess handed me menu and said let me check. I said ok. Came back and said it would be at least an hour (for a small order - nigiri and roll). I said that's too bad, thank you anyway, and went outside..
Outside on the bench, the college-aged folx who had been waiting over an hour, were approached by the hostess. I overheard chatter and asked them, after hostess left, what happened, and they said they were refused service (or that they added another hour to their wait time - I do not recall exactly but think the latter). I was dumbfounded and I said let me go in and kindly speak to Sushi JeJu staff on your behalf. I went in and spoke to the hostess about their miscommunication. Not only did they seem completely unapologetic, they utterly denied their story. I then asked why would the customers lie about this (Later I'd find out that Jeju has a history of poor customer service, and still, apparently) and got a blank look like I was talking to a wall.
I went back outside and spoke to the folx who were waiting on me to see what JeJu said and I told them unfortunately they wouldn't accommodate and how dismayed I was by that. I also told them this experience is worth a review. This review is me making good on that promise.
TO CUSTOMERS: Be cautious of facing similar treatment by staff/management of this establishment. The managing staff did nothing to relieve those customers' stress, much less apologize. However, I'm still going to give Sushi JeJu a shot. Next time, I'll go when not busy....to try the sushi. And, I love sushi, and have had my fair share from all over the U.S. and Japan. We'll see how Sushi JeJu fairs in the food category next time.
TO JEJU STAFF/MANAGEMENT: We're all under stress during this time, but there's no excuse to treat people poorly. Based on what I've seen, experienced, and read, your lack of transparency, communication, and seemliness is why you have so many 1, 2 and 3-star reviews. Based on what ppl have said about the sushi (Kendalyn Groves. Korky Kirk, Kierra Knox, Jack King, Colten King, Carol Gentry, Tyler Hopkins, Larry Cable, Miro Anguelov, Tiffin Vaughn, and countless others), I will not be returning to try it after all, as I expect it will be akin to other areas in need of improvement. Until to you address these issues, continue to expect unhappy...
Read moreWent to Ramen Master, and they are closed. Boyfriend and I found Sushi Jeju had ramen on their menu, so we went there. It was about 1 PM when we got there. I ordered the spicy seafood ramen, and my boyfriend ordered the Shoyu. There were 4 other 2-person groups seated, so not busy at all. We waited 30 minutes for our food.
The Shoyu was supposed to be a beef ramen with onions, scallions, corn, and bean sprouts. He got a bowl of beef broth with noodles, beef on top and 2 little scallion tips. The noodles were not well made either. Boyfriend pulled up a wad of noodles that looked chewy and were stuck together. The beef was large tangled pieces of grey beef.
My seafood soup had 3 mussels, 4 baby shrimp, 5 baby scallops and a bunch of cabbage and onions. It was missing the carrots and shitake mushrooms.
When I brought this to the waitress' attention, she said, "Hm, hold on", and headed to the back. She came back and asked us if we wanted vegetables on the side to add to the ramen. She confirmed they would be raw carrots and precooked mushrooms that had been cooled.
We told her we didn't want to add that to our ramen. She said we could order something else off the menu, but after waiting for our food and then waiting another 10 minutes for the waitress to check in on us, we declined a different meal, because we didn't want to wait to keep waiting.
She started saying something about how the "manager doesn't really like to..." and then said she would look into it again and disappeared to the back again. She came back and said that they could make us another dish, but that was it. I told her we were had already waited so long, and she said that it was because there was only one chef back there, "so that explains that". I told her that $14 for a bowl of beef broth and noodles with beef was unacceptable. She told us to let her know if we needed anything else and left.
She did not come back for another 10-15 minutes and we asked for the check. She gave it to us and left. We didn't want to wait anymore, so we just walked up to the front to pay. We were discounted $2 on...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst sushi experience I have ever had. For me sushi is all about the experience and quality of the food combined with service. I ate here over a year ago and the experience was very good.. I am sad to see both quality and service have deteriorated to what can only be described as a disgusting experience. When we entered the waitress looked like she could care less weather we entered the building or not and told us to "sit wherever." We chose a table near the fireplace and it was broken and wobbled. When we stood to go to another table, the waitress saw us and rolled her eyes at the chef. When we ordered her responses where, "Cool, OK." Very unprofessional. When Our order began to show up she dropped 3 bowls of COLD Miso soup down and walked off. COLD soup ? When she came back she asked if everything was ok and we said NO, the soups cold and she stared at us like it was our fault. We had to ask her to re heat it, Miso should be fresh made before service if its cold, no one knows how old it is. Its the simplest thing to make. I ordered a Hamchi kama appetizer , It was way to large and was taken directly from the freezer to be cooked and not thawed because it was raw sticking to the bone on the inside and wet warm on the outside. as for the sushi itself, it was warm and mushy and had a less than fresh odor. I eat sushi three times a week visiting places all over the world, this is the first time I almost got sick trying to eat it. The price definitely did not match the quality. I could have had a belter experience buying it from a supermarket. At least the service would have been better and the fish prepared by someone who was wearing a hair net. There are other sushi places in Fort Collins. I recommend trying them before wasting time getting parking, paying for location over service and the possibility of really...
