October 9, 2022... A couple of months ago I ordered a pastry that was stale and hard. I went back to the counter and explained this and a young person said "sorry about that" turned away from me and continued with whatever else they were doing. I've lost all faith in Little Bird. I have been here SO MANY times over the years but this is my last visit. Poor service is the reason. Incredibly poor service. 2 weeks ago I stopped in and ordered a latte and slice of quiche. They called my name for the latte and I never heard again about my quiche. I walked back to the counter inquiring about the quiche and a young person literally said "we called your name and someone else took your quiche and it was the last slice. I will refund you for the quiche." They never called my name. I was sitting right next to the counter where they call names! I got the latte but they wouldn't take responsibility for screwing up my order or apologizing. Today I ordered a croissant and a slice of quiche. The croissant was handed to me right away. I sat down slowly eating the croissant and was in the other room sitting under the mirror. After a while I got up to check on my quiche. 4 young people/employees were chatting. There weren't any customers in line and I looked at the microwave, where they usually heat the quiche. It wasn't going. I asked all 4 folks "is my quiche ready?" They all looked like deer in headlights. After expressing my disappointment and stating this very same thing happened 2 weeks ago a person said "it will be right out." My name was called and I approached the pick up counter and a different young person was offering me a fully punched punch card (worth $5 off) and my quiche finally. I looked at them and said "I don't want your money," and proceeded to tell my quiche story of 2 weeks ago. She apologized. These are the reasons I will no longer visit Little Bird. I hope they do ok after they leave Old Town to a remote area of College Ave. I'm guessing good help is the weak link but I don't really know what their...
Read moreThis place is good, but I'm always a little disappointed. I've been here twice and the first time it took an extremely long time to get orders out. The line wasn't even that long, but they were moving so slow that I waited at least 15-20 minutes to actually place the order and then another 15-20 min waiting for the order to come out. On top of that they then gave me the wrong quiche to go and I didn't know until I got to work. I just went the second time this morning a few months later and the line was shorter (waited more like 10 minutes), and the wait was extremely reasonable (less than 5 minutes). The scone I got was supposed to be apricot almond, but the flavors just weren't there. It still tasted good, but just tasted like a sweet scone. There wasn't enough apricot/almond and/or they overmixed it into the dough and it just tasted sweet...I just expect more from a nice bakery honestly...
PROS: Quality seems good Atmosphere seems nice if you want to sit outside and just relax and aren't in a hurry

Read moreI will never return to Little Bird Bake Shop, and I will discourage everyone I meet to never go there.
I went to Little Bird today for the first time. When I ordered a Bhakti chai with a shot of espresso (one of my personal favorites), they told me that they can't serve it because "chai and espresso both have unique flavors and it's our policy to not mix them". I told them that yes, I agree that those two drinks do have unique flavors, and I like the unique flavor that they make when they are combined. They flat out refused to serve me.
I have never experienced such rude service in my life. I worked as a barista for several years, and my coffee shop was thrilled when customers ordered new things that expanded our horizons. Even if a customer orders something that you think is weird and not meant to be served the way that they want it, you should acknowledge that you don't know this person or their likes and dislikes and serve them what they ask for.
I don't understand how coffee shop employees can be so closed-minded, and I am extremely disappointed that charming Old Town Square is spoiled by this arrogant and pretentious...
