Cheap Charlie's — Restaurant in Fort Gratiot Charter Township

Very bad experience. First off we were waiting in the entrance area for a table. they told us 10 minutes. after about 20 the gentlemen from the party that had us put on the list went up to the desk to ask how much longer and it was discovered our name had already been crossed off. Once we were seated the waitress took drink orders then came back and took food orders. Then brought us our drinks. About 20 minutes after taking our orders the waitress returns and states that an item 2 of us had ordered was not available and asked if we wanted to change them which we did. after about 30 minutes the waitress is bringing food to other tables that were seated after us and we flag her down to ask what is taking so long. She said she would check. She came back and stated that there was a steak that was ordered well done that takes longer then normal. I asked to speak to the manager. About 3 minutes later she brings out the food. 3 orders were wrong and the steak that she said was taking extra time to cook was cold 2 orders were sent back. Finaly the manager comes out and asks what the problem is. We start to state the issues and she walks away and returns later with and meal that was " accidentaly mistaken as one of the ones that was brought". She knocked 15% off the bill when it came out. One of the meals that was sent back was a rack of ribs that was cold and tasted funny. There was another rack that was at the table and my nephew was eating them he ate about 2 bones then said he was done and wanted a box. He was up most of the night sick. his dad tried the ribs in the morning and said they tasted spoiled. I don't know what is happening there but the manager is less then helpful and we will...

I grew up in the area and always loved the local charm and great food, but when I went in with my family last month we were treated like a major inconvenience by who I believe is the newest owner. First she asked if our infant was going to stay in her car seat, and when we said yes she started to seat us at a booth. When we asked for a sling for the car seat she responded that she’d have to put us at a different table. I’m not sure why she didn’t ask if we wanted a sling or where she thought we were going to put the car seat. Then one of the members of our party ordered CC stix, and when they arrived she asked for more cheese, and the server asked what size and brought it, but when the bill came they charged us $8 for those 2 little cups of cheese, which we wouldn’t have ordered if we were told about the charge. When we questioned the high cost, the owner loudly announced that the charge could be removed but our server would have to pay for it. It felt like she was making an unnecessary scene, and honestly she was just very rude about it. We paid our bill and let the server know that we didn’t fault her (though she should have disclosed the charge, but I guess we also should have read that in the menu). We certainly didn’t make her pay the ridiculous charge for the cheese. We won’t be back and have warned our local loved ones of the terrible attitude of the woman who made an awkward point of telling us that she made sure there was a changing table in the men’s room since she has owned the place. Normally this place is phenomenal. Excellent service great food and great prices. However today, we had to call the manager since the wait staff placed food on the table, along with dirty appetizer plates and no utensils. It's steady but not busy. After calling the manager over to complain, she decided it was not the servers fault and had MAJOR attitude. In addition to raising her voice to me, she also made a snarky comment about the elderly couple who mis read the menu, stating its their fault we got dirty plates and no silverware. At no time was the issue addressed with the server or the fact that another server was complaining loudly that she didn't get a tip. I suggest avoiding the place at 1400 on Saturdays.

Sadly, once again, I have had horrible service, rhe "manager" is inept, the special was 86'd and we were not informed until we ordered. Two medium steaks and one was rare and one was well. Complained and the manager didnt take care of the issue, had the server return to the table to deal with my dissatisfaction, and hid after being requested to return to the table. We needed a relaxing evening out. We got a horrible experience, for the last time. I prefer local restaurants to chains. Every 3rd time we visit, we have issues. The prices are cheap, but this place is NO LONGER ON OUR LIST of establishments. My son said it best... lets go home, I will...
