My partner visited the location on Commercial Blvd earlier in the week and enjoyed it enough that we both went out to the Ft Lauderdale location. I mention this because locations and experiences will always vary, and if this kind of food is your thing, you should give it a try.
It's a nice enough restaurant. Full of people eating and working on a central seating island. The ambience is great, decent music, nice lighting, comfy seats.
Food is sold here by weight (apparently, because it wasn't overly clear to a newbie). You get whatever on a plate, and they weigh it. I'd have been a bit more comfortable with self serve because trying to get the staff to limit the portion with each scoop was a challenge.
One of the girls was obviously training and struggling a bit with some translation. Pretty sure her coworker has now drilled into her what a potato is. I was fine with rice if that's what landed :) Either way, they were all pretty friendly, mostly patient, and we got there in the end.
Everything else aside, a place like this lives or dies on the food. That's a shame for this visit because neither of us were overly impressed with it. Potatoes cold, cauliflower so tough you can't get a knife through it, and the salmon was so overcooked and dry it was more like canned tuna then fresh baked salmon. It was edible, and tasted okay, but was disappointing. Carrots and beets were okay, but the latter were just overdone a bit. The kale was drenched in some light dressing I didn't care for at all. Mushrooms were chewy and boring.
Would we go back? For $56 for these two plates and a bottle of water, no, no we won't. I can just go buy a bit of cooked salmon and some sides from Fresh Market down the road for a...
Read moreOverall, a bit of a letdown. I ordered the Chicken Gordo wrap, and my husband got the Hungry Man's burrito as well as a coffee and a latte.
My coffee was excellent! The lattes though don't have nice designs like other coffee shops, and they are served in coffee mugs with the tiniest handle that makes it difficult to hold.
The service was fine, but it took a while to get our food. We also couldn't hear the staff calling out our names even though we were only a few feet from the register.
The food was the most disappointing part of our experience. First, the wraps are pretty small for the price. When a place lists a sandwich as a "wrap", I don't expect it to come as a grilled panini. The baby greens/spring mix in my sandwich were completely wilted and rotted. I took a bite of it and instantly knew I had to remove every bit of hot, nasty wilted lettuce from it. My husband said he didn't like his sandwich either.
When you walk in, the place is esthetically inviting, but then you hear the House music at 9am and it instantly makes me feel old. Great "vibes" if you're under 30 but annoying to those who want a relaxing breakfast.
We decided to pay for a $12 Uber ride to get to this place because of the gorgeous pictures and fresh foods advertised. I'll think twice before...
Read moreI was recommended to go to a living green Café, because I was looking for somewhere to read a book. The atmosphere was really pretty and quaint.
It was my first time going today, so I decided to order breakfast with my husband. I ended up ordering an omelette and he ended up ordering the chicken gordo. He is pretty cautious when he’s ordering due certain foods that he cannot tolerate.
When our food came, I was extremely excited to taste my omelette because it looks so delicious but when my husband looked at his sandwich, he noticed that there was avocado in it. And he’s not really want to complain but after looking at the ingredients in the sandwich it just didn’t look like they made the right sandwich so I brought it back and the girl was nice enough to ask if I wanted to order anything else, but he really wanted to have the sandwich with pesto in it.
We had them remake it, and it was disappointing — not even that the first sandwich was made with ingredients that weren’t stated but there was no sign of pesto inside. I even tasted it. There was no pesto. It’s just unfortunate because the cost of the food just didn’t match his expectations. I’m willing to try it again. But just a friendly reminder to check the food when it’s delivered...
