A gem is defined as something prized for great beauty or perfection . A gem is the perfect word to describe our experience at Mama’s Latin Cafe. I went to breakfast with my beautiful wife who’s pictures are shown in this review. We were served by the beautiful owner Gabriela and outstanding server daughter Elizabeth . Elizabeth’s father Dagoberto serves up the best Cuban and Mexican dishes cooked to perfection . Their coffee was rated the best coffee in Fort Lauderdale by New Times Weekly Newspaper . The ham , cheese and egg omelette was prepared in classic Cuban style i.e. rich tasting, filled sky high and ever so slightly browned. (See photo ) The Cuban soft white bread was served warm and buttered. Of course we did not refuse the highly acclaimed cafe con leche! We are certainly going back . In my next review I will write about their tacos ( where else can you get 2.00 tacos !) and I’m sure to savor it with Dagoberto’ own taco sauce. I will also try their home made flan ! So as the saying goes to...

This little gem is in my neighborhood and it’s been at least 16-17 years since I first walked in the door. The food is excellent, it’s a family owned and operated business, you can tell they care and they’re very real people. The mom’s demeanor when dealing with trouble customers reminds me a lot of the tattoo shops I’ve worked in, they are not a chain so they don’t have to suffer stupidity. I don’t think anything there is cooked off site, bread nor pastries. I’ve never had a less than perfect meal there. The daughter, who is only there part time now is charming, welcoming and among the most beautiful people I’ve ever laid eyes on. Oh! The prices. Not bad at all. Not dirt cheap as Cuban food goes, but definitely affordable. Places like this don’t seem to exist much outside of Little Havana, the Caribbean and Central America. This kind of restaurant/diner is part of the reason I fell in love with...

A nice little hole in the wall I happened to find myself in this morning. So peaceful, a nice little getaway. The quiet chatter from the nearby tables, the sound of the employees steaming milk, all the items hanging on the wall, a nice vibe & atmosphere. The pastry I had this morning was absolutely delicious. Cream cheese and I believe a strawberry jelly inside of a flaky crust that melts and flakes apart inside your mouth. The coffee was absolutely spot on to what I ordered, which, actually never happens…I was surprised and in awe of this place. The staff are so wonderful, kind, & attentive. I’m happy to say that I will definitely be finding myself in there again more often than not. The most wonderful cafe I’ve ever...

1. The service is great, the ladies are real nice and helpful. 2. Great prices. 3. The coffee is amazing, simple. 4. The food is good, but it can be better. I will explain. We ordered a cuban sandwich and it tasted good and the bread was delicious, but as you can see from the pictures, it was very thin, it needs pork, not just pork ham. The “tostones” and “plátanos maduros” were a little overcooked. We also ordered rice with beans and palomino steak and it was good but I had better. The “papas rellenas” also tasted good and we tried the croquettes but we are not fans. Overall, a good inexpensive latin spot.

Tasty. Exceptional and bilingual customer service. Cash or card accepted. Love supporting small, local restaurants. We would come again. :-) Visited Tuesday at 11am and had milanesa de res (beef steak milanese) and lechon asado (roasted pork) served with rice, black beans, and platanos maduros (fried sweet plantains). Also had rich-tasting sopa de pollo (chicken soup) and empanada pollo. All very good; although, the empanada would have been better if a little more chicken or more flavorful. Salsa rojo (red hot sauce) was homemade and great tasting.
