While the food was decent, the overall quality & experience wasn't worth the $85 price we paid for Brunch for two people! We arrived around 12pm on Saturday and were told the wait was going to be about 45 minutes. We decided to wait because we had heard good things about this place. After waiting 55 minutes we were seated (very friendly host) in the quaint outside seating area. After sitting at our table for about 10 minutes we were finally asked by a very frazzled waitress if anyone had given us a QR code to order. We said no & she pulled out a laminate card and told me to scan the card with my mobile phone & make our order on their app. She then hastily walked away and we didn't see her again until we had to waive her over to our table. We each ordered a different flavored pancake with a side of scrambled eggs, a flavored muffin each and two coffees with cream (one with sweet & low). About 20 minutes later our coffees & muffins were dropped off at the table (way too long to wait for coffee!) & that server hastily walked away. I then had to flag down our waitress to ask for the sweet & low (which I had selected & ordered in the app) & she seemed bothered by the request! The coffee was warm but not piping hot and you do not get a free refill. If you want more coffee, you have to open the app and order it! The food arrived about 25 minutes later in a wire basket wrapped in to-go containers (it's their shtick). The food tasted fine but it was not worth the $15 price for a 6" pancake! I ordered the pineapple and pecan & it only had 4 small pineapple chunks inside with a smattering of pecans thrown around. My husband had the Strawberry & corn which was very nice and better flavored. The scrambled eggs were fine but nothing special. We observed the table next to us ask the waitress for more syrup (you get one small plastic ramikin with about 3 Oz of syrup per pancake) and she told them they would need to make a new order on the app because the syrup refill costs $2.00 if you want more! The guy was very annoyed by that and she said it's because they use "real maple syrup!" and she walked away. After she walked away he exclaimed "can you believe this place? Now they want me to order syrup and to do that I have to go through the hassle of inputting my credit card again for lousy syrup! What a rip-off!". We agreed & to top it off the app wants you to tip the server before they even give service. As a local, we are always looking for new places to enjoy a brunch on the weekends and based on our first impression, we will spend our money elsewhere. It's a shame because this place has huge potential to...
Read moreI'm writing this review because I was really disappointed in the experience I had visiting OB House restaurant. I was visiting Ft Lauderdale this past Labor Day weekend for the first time and wanted to enjoy what the city has to offer. My girlfriend and I wanted a casual breakfast and came across this particular restaurant which we were excited for the experience. Who wouldn't want a farm to table restaurant experience. It was a mistake in decision that we regret and why I am writing this review. I don't have the time to list everything that was terrible, because their was enough, so I 'll list the one that needs changing.
The Ordering System online is not only inconvenient, but un-organize. Orders were going to wrong tables throughout the dining experience. For example, we ordered drinks (Passion lemonade and orange juice) and as we sat there for the next 15 minutes we actually witnessed our drinks going to another table. The customer at that table explained that it wasn't their drinks, but took the orange juice anyways....we can tell she was frustrated. At that point I advised the server that we still haven't received our drinks and he informed us that ours is coming...as he took my Passion lemonade back to the kitchen. For the next 30 minutes we waited for food and drinks. Low and behold our food came which was disappointing as others have pointed out. But to this point, we still haven't received our drinks yet. The host came to us after complaining to several servers about our drinks to offer an apology and a gift when we leave. As we were finished eating our drinks finally came. Now good restaurants would have removed the drinks from the bill. But I'm not sure if the mangers or owners care. As we were waiting for to- go cups from our last minute drink, I can see the train wreck of the ordering system continue as the server walked around asking customers if they were Kimberly to serve a coffee cup. But little did he know Kimberly walked 40 minutes ago unhappy with our orange juice and no coffee.
This was something that I had to write about because it was so disappointing. When you pay for a breakfast that is $72.00 dollars, I was expecting great service and food especially with the host describing as the best in Ft. Lauderdale. Instead, we received food and service that was worse than Denny's. This is why I had to give 1 star. If you read the other reviews, they will explain the other reasons why I gave the 1 star.
Thanks for the gift...a cookie that my 8 year...
Read moreBefore Covid, we’ve gone to this restaurant many times and enjoyed it thoroughly. It was always a bit on the expensive side, but always worth it. We were very excited about going back for a special birthday breakfast this past Saturday.
To say we were disappointed, is an understatement. In fact, we felt as if we were scammed.
The new outside eating area was very nice and truly inviting- the staff welcoming.
The problems began with the menu, which is only available through your smartphone. This system forces you to order without being able to ask for any specifics or possible changes. It also forces you to add a tip and to fully pay before you even get served.
The problems continued with the food itself. All the food came out in tinfoil containers. This is nothing more than a takeout restaurant that happens to have some outdoor seating.
Problems continued again with the food itself. Most of it was just fine. However, the omelette (which was $18) was minuscule. It looked as if it couldn’t have been made with more than two small eggs.
Finally, comes to cost! We ordered one large pancake, one omelette, one biscuit, and 2 cups of coffee. The bill came out to $60. Scam!!
I asked to speak to the manager to let him know how disappointed I was, only to be told that he was too busy. I left my name and number but never heard back from him. I called twice during the week. The phone system automatically goes to voicemail. There is no opportunity to speak to anybody directly. Needless to say, I never got a return phone call either.
That will be the last time we eat at this restaurant. What a shame. It used to be so good, and could be again, if it had...
