Society Las Olas — Local services in Fort Lauderdale

I signed/ moved in December. They promise you the world. Then you find out the truth. 1. You move in and learn there are only two (very nice) maintenance people for the entire building. I think they have four now. It always takes a bit to get anything fixed, because there were only two people trying to service the entire building. 2. As particular as they are about wearing a mask during the tour, barely anyone wears a mask in common areas. The elevators have no maximum of people allowed. Once I was going down to my car to grab something on a Friday and 2 people came into the lift. We went down a couple more floors and five more people came in... that would be 8 people in one lift! No one cares. From March- December I was going crazy avoiding COVID because I have lupus and the doctor told me it could get really bad for me, but the week after I moved in here, I tested positive, despite wearing a mask like a crazy person. 3. The management office only has Stella, and she has no power over anything. The actual property manager is Amanda, and despite numerous emails (that is the recommended way to contact her and she is coincidently never in the office) she will not respond to you. Before you move in, try pressing the button for residents. No one ever answers... that is the service you get when you move here... 4. The pool and jacuzzis are crowded Friday- Sunday as though we have frat parties here. The jacuzzis tend to get full (7-10+ people) on most evenings. They originally encouraged mass gatherings like this because on Saturdays they have a DJ come from 2-7pm. The parties used to get crazy with nonresidents coming as well and then management finally sent out an email about 40 people in the pool and 4 people per jacuzzi but management only works until 6, so no one is here to enforce any of these new "strict" rules. 5. EVERYONE passing by your door can hear inside. Playing music, vacuuming, the the microwave beeping, baby crying. Just an FYI because I've heard it passing other people's doors. And yes, I'm on the 23 floor and you can hear the train passing whenever you are home. It's not that bad, but brightline has been testing their trains lately and you hear honking and train passings every 2-3 hours. It is annoying, not gonna lie. 6. They try to sell you on the whole, ample parking thing, just an FYI, parking is floors 5-9 and it used to be free (now they charge for car 1 and car 2) . 10 is a construction site. When I moved here I would always find parking on 6 or 7. Now it's generally 8. The appliances look great, but they're trash. The dishwasher needs rinse aid to dry your dishes, the fridge door doesn't close fully unless you slam it, the microwave beeps nonstop once the timer is off, your GFCI outlets might not work in the beginning and then maintenance has to come, when the two of them are free. I actually feel bad for them. SUMMARY: If I didn't have to pay to break my lease, I would move. This is the place I wish I would have lived when I was in college, or if I was a single person who still enjoyed the drinking scene and didn't have a serious health issue. It honestly stinks at times because some of the residents are really nice, it's just, not many care about health and safety, and that's what it really comes to. I have consistently experienced the best residential support services of my life here at Society of Las Olas with FOL Property Management. Starting at the TOP. Kali who serves as the Property Manager is very helpful and a pure Solutionist. The guy gets the Job done no matter the Circumstances. He's also responsible for the wonderful team designed to make it a pleasure living here at SOL. Eyad serves as one of the leaders of the Residential Experience team. He plans great events that BUILDS a camaraderie amongst the Community which I greatly appreciate and look forward to always attending. Not to mention how he also serves everyone with Passion, Wisdom & Grace. Then you have Ria who's also apart of the Residential Experience team. She goes above and beyond to help Residents, Visitors, and her Staff. I've seen Ria stay After-work, a numerous amount of times to serve others with Knowledge, Grace and Passion. You have MARQUIS who is apart of the Concierge team who's a FANS FAVORITE. The guy does it all!!!!! I've never seen MARQUIS not willing to go above & beyond for anyone!!!!! As for the Leasing staff, Darrel, Estapahnie JB, Peter, & Katie are the best! Their very friendly and helpful… Their responsible for the Atmosphere that is built in the building. I enjoy their professionalism and expertise on the property as a whole. Kudos to Danny (Maintenance Manager) Mac & John, WE have the best Maintenance team. They're on top of EVERYTHING with URGENCY. Anytime I have submitted a maintenance request I have received a prompt response. Whether it is changing light bulbs, replacing/removing furniture, or servicing the plumbing and electricity, maintenance quickly and thoroughly ensured that I have an optimal living environment. Last but certainly not least, As for SAFETY, We have a team of Gentleman who ensure that Society is a safe community. I have witnessed the progression of safety teams and like where we are, and look forward to things only getting BETTER. I intend to continue renting from SOL for the remainder of my years in Fort Lauderdale, and I strongly recommend this property to all Young Professionals, Elderly, Singles, Families, Etc. looking for housing. In some ways, your property management company can make or break your living experience and with FOL, it’s all in the service. I couldn’t be happier! Extremely Disappointed with Building Management's Response to a Tragic Incident (Suicide outside of my balcony).

I am writing this review to express my profound disappointment and frustration with the management of Society Las Olas FOL Management. Their handling of a recent tragic incident has left me deeply disturbed and dissatisfied as a tenant.

First and foremost, I would like to address the heartbreaking suicide that occurred right outside of my balcony on Nov 12, 2023. This event has had a significant impact on my mental well-being, and I believe it is both insensitive and unprofessional that the building management did nothing to address or support tenants affected by this tragedy.

Upon contacting the management to discuss terminating my lease, I was met with an absolute refusal to accommodate my request. Despite the undeniable trauma I experienced, they callously dismissed my concerns and provided no viable solutions or alternatives. This complete lack of empathy is unacceptable and demonstrates a disregard for the well-being of their tenants.

I understand that breaking a lease can be a complicated matter, but in circumstances as severe as this, one would expect a more compassionate approach. The management's refusal to acknowledge the emotional toll this incident has taken on me and their unwillingness to work towards a satisfactory resolution is simply disheartening.

As a tenant, I believe it is our right to feel safe and secure within our living environment. Unfortunately, the management's response to this incident only serves to highlight their negligence in ensuring the well-being and mental health of their residents. It is clear that their priorities lie elsewhere, and the welfare of their tenants is not one of them.

I urge anyone considering renting an apartment in Society Las Olas to seriously reconsider their options. The lack of compassion, support, and understanding exhibited by the FOL management in the face of such a tragic event is indicative of their overall disregard for the welfare of their tenants. It is essential to choose a building management team that values the mental and emotional health of its residents, and unfortunately, this is not the case with Society Las Olas.

I am deeply disappointed with the way the management of Society Las Olas has handled the aftermath of the suicide incident. Their refusal to allow me to break my lease and their overall lack of empathy have left me feeling unsupported and disheartened.
