NJ's Fort Lee: The Ultimate Korean Food Heaven! Complete Collection

The food was good and our experience was memorable, but not in a good way. I'm leaving 1 star because the service was the worst. First we ordered the gopchang, beef tartar and two sodas but told the server we wanted 3 beers instead. The server brought our two sodas AND three beers so we told her that we wanted just the beers. We didn't even touch the cans. She actually gave us an attitude saying "but you didn't cancel the sodas." What? In the end she did take the sodas back. After that a couple of guys came to deliver our food but we never saw that girl again. We wanted to order more food and they have a bell at the end of the table so we rang it. Waited. Rang it again and again. A harried looking male server peeked over the side of railing from the second floor and disappeared. Our server went over to the other table with like 10 people that came after us and only seemed to be serving them. She kept her back to us all the while. We rang it again and again. She never came, not even to ask us how we were doing, if we needed anything, etc. Someone else could have come over but no one did. At this point we only wanted the bill. Finally the hostess or manager came over, asked us what we needed and gave us our bill. My husband told the manager or whoever about our experience and she listened intently saying that it was unlike her (the server) to behave in such a manner but that's all. We went over to Mavis and had some bomb pizza afterwards since we hardly ate at this establishment. Don't come here if you want to be ignored.

Gopchang Story is a South Korean franchise restaurant located in Main St., Fort Lee. The owner wanted to bring some of his Korean culture in the states, and he successfully did so. I think this is the best restaurant of its kind in Fort Lee. A big credit should go to our host - Yoon - who sat us and prepared the table and grill for the master chef. Yoon has displayed high customer service skills, and most of all enthusiasm and joy to have us as his guests. The chef - Ms. Yoone - was very pleasant, attentively asking our culinary preferences, presenting the wide variety of stir - fry vegetables accompanying the skirt steak. Just to mention a few, we had: celery, onion, cabage, two kinds of scallions- one shreaded and one just cut pieces, lettuce, egg soufle, eggplants, watercrest, spicy green pepper, and mashed potatoes. The skirt steak was grilled together with mushrooms, asparagus, onion, and pineapple. It was delicious, and one of the best Korean meals I have ever had. A big "Bravo" to chef Yoone and the team in the kitchen. The prices are medium to high, but it is worthwhile. Everything is fresh and delicious, and you get what you pay for. I had a wonderful evening and dinner to Gopchang Story, and that's why i would like to give credit where credit is due!

A few days ago, my friends and I went to the newly opened Gopchang Story after many years. We'd been really looking forward to it, so our expectations were sky high. As soon as we opened the door, we were told to wait. While we were waiting, I asked someone either the host or the owner if they allowed BYOB. But they actually asked me what BYOB was. It felt like someone working at a restaurant should know such a basic rule. The first people you see when you walk in were not very welcoming. One person was bent over, phone in hand, not even looking up to greet us, and another had a completely unfriendly expression, just staring at the POS machine even when other customers arrived. It made me feel uncomfortable just waiting there. When our table was finally ready, they suddenly asked if there were two of us, not three. I had clearly told them there were three of us when my friend and I walked in! So we had to wait again for them to re-arrange the table. My mood was already a bit sour. After finally getting seated, I noticed they didn't have many beer options. It made me think that allowing BYOB would be a much better idea. We ordered the mixed gopchang platter and yukhoe (beef tartare). The food was surprisingly much tastier and richer than I remembered from two years ago. However, as we ate, the older host kept walking around, checking tables, and it felt like he was subtly rushing us to leave. I wanted to enjoy our meal in peace, but I felt pressured and couldn't fully relax. Despite all that, one server with really big eyes was incredibly friendly. She chatted with us, told jokes, and explained the dishes in detail, which really brightened our mood and made the meal enjoyable in the end. Lastly, I have to mention that, overall, the male staff members smelled strongly of...

Hello,

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with a recent experience I had at your establishment.

During my visit, I encountered extremely inappropriate behavior and attitude from one of the male servers. The following issues were particularly concerning: Use of profanity in front of customers – It was shocking to witness the server using foul language in front of guests, displaying a complete lack of basic courtesy. Unprofessional work attitude – He walked around lazily, sang songs while working, and frequently muttered to himself, all of which were highly unprofessional. Disrupting coworkers – He repeatedly interrupted a female server who was diligently working, engaging her in unnecessary conversation and distracting her from her tasks. Neglect of service – He never once approached our table. Failing to perform even basic table checks made us feel completely ignored as customers.

These behaviors made the entire experience extremely unpleasant and significantly diminished my trust in your establishment. As a customer, I believe it is only fair to expect proper service and a minimum level of respect. I strongly urge the store to take appropriate action and provide further training for this staff member.

Please ensure that such incidents do not happen again in the future. I would also appreciate a response regarding the actions taken in response to this complaint.

Just don’t go here. A former manager from Anytime is now working here with this kind of...
