Nice atmosphere, limited parking, great drink and eggs! Service certainly subpar and can be improved.
I went for a brunch, we had the entire bar area. With such a large party, there was a 20% Large Group fee and that is fine. I usually tip in addition to the 18 - 20% fee but in the case I simply could not. I believe a server with large group experience might be helpful. If our server has that experience, perhaps fining tuning of soft and service skills may help.
I had the Hoofer's Banana Nut Pancakes, eggs over hard, Candied bacon. I had to ask to place a drink order, that should have been my first clue. Kali told me, yes you can, I hust need to get those two over there. "Those two" had actually entered the bar and sat after me, but were a part of the party.
Than I asked to place a food order after so many had received their food. Those who ordered the Hoofer's loved it! When my food came out, it looked TOTALLY different. The whipped creme on everyone else's was formed and fluffy, and the bananas were tucked or underneath the cream. Well, my plate came out and you couldn't even see any whipped creme because it had melted into the pancakes completely. The bananas were all over the plate. I wasn't provided syrup like everyone else who received their orders before. I asked Kali was the creme on mine there because it looked totally different than others. Kali replied, "Yes, it's there, it just looks like that because it must have sat under the heat lamp." Those words absolutely were spoken... must have sat under the heat lamp. I thought surely, after acknowledging the food sat so long it wasn't visually appealing, she would offer to take it back, but nope. Then I asked whether my order came with syrup like others, or if I could just pay for some. She said, "yes, I will get you some." Then after I tried the pancakes, because the whipped cream had apparently melted into the stack, the pancakes were near liquefied, mushy, doughy. The pancakes were not solid enough to remain on the tines of the fork!! The pancakes were inedible! Everyone around me said, "Send it back. Yours looks nothing like the others. It looks as if it was thrown together."
They, those around me, got the attention of Ashley. Ashley took one look at the plate and said, "Oh, no. That is not right." She sent it back and requested another. Honestly, I didn't even want the food, but when it came out, I graciously accepted. It, the pancakes, were not good. Everyone said how sweet, buttery, and flavorful the pancakes were even without syrup, but not mine! My Pancakes had "a bite" to them, bitter even. This is why I don't like to send food back, it may infuriated the staff. The pancake had a tiny bit of whipped cream on the stack, not at all as the other dishes, but the bananas were neat and arranged nicely.
I asked for a to-go box because the party had finished their food by the time mine had made it back to me. My eggs, Candied bacon, and Mr. Brown cocktail were great, though.
I asked Ashley for my check, and she let me know she had taken $4 off my bill. I appreciate her acknowledgment and service.
The atmosphere is great, and I think this could be a fun place but my first experience just wasn't great. So disappointed in the service received today because I love trying new places. Based on this experience I, personally wouldn't recommend it (at this point). Would I give them another try and potentially modify my...

We wanted to try out a couple of local breweries for our anniversaries (work and marriage), so we started the day with Bankhead.
It was a late lunch/early dinner since we had multiple stops planned. Keep the timing in mind as it may be an explanation for our experience.
We started with the loaded fries and enjoyed them as we received our first flights. The beers were drinkable as in they were easy on the pallet, paired well with just about anything but nothing that will stick out in your mind.
Would I drink them again? Yes, absolutely. Would I drive across the country to get them? Nah.
This is where the problems started happening. Our server was phenomenal, other than the fact that she kept dropping syllables from her words. The manager took care of us when we had a problem and comped up both the meals we ordered, so we are not looking for a freebie. I'm just sharing...
Now, onto the reasons they were comped.
Based on the image we saw Maps, the wife ordered the salmon. It looks fantastic with its creamy risotto, thick charred asparagus, and crisply seared salmon filled.
What she received was a well cooked (with no sear) salmon filet with skin intact, over five minuscule limp asparagus stalks wading in a soup of oily rice pudding.
She tried. She really did, but after hitting half a dozen small bones in her filet, she stopped, and I called the manager over. A quick "thumb check" for bones could have prevented this.
She doesn't like being a Karen, but I have no problem helping people hone their craft with a little constructive criticism.
The main issue with my shrimp risotto (besides the oil) was a massive lump of herb buried in the bottom. Mincing herbs isn't difficult or time-consuming.
There was a very obvious lack of care by one or more of the kitchen staff.
Again, it was off peak, but at the same time. These are easy fixes.
We finished the trip with the pretzel, and it was quite good.
The Liquid Language was also a remarkable tap, but it's super boozy, so I hesitate to recommend it for...
Read moreLet’s talk about brand new restaurants. Last night I was in the newly soft-opened Bankhead Brewing in Fort Worth off of University just north of 7th Street. There s a couple of things to be remembered, here. I showed up very close to time for the kitchen to close (about 15 mins or so) and I ordered to go with a long return trip (20 mins). Regardless, I do not regret the experience, in fact, I am more willing to order from them again at a more reasonable hour.
I found very accommodating staff, if a little inexperienced with their systems because they are still training. That’s not a criticism, that’s just a fact. I ordered a large order for my friends and I which included the Prosciutto-Wrapped Jalapeños; Grilled Cheese and Brisket; the BH Salad, add Chicken; and the BH Kobe Burger.
My friends and I loved the food. The peppers and salad (not pictured) were well-made and delicious. The fries which came with each sandwich were wonderfully crispy and lightly salted. The Grilled Cheese and Brisket was amazing! Wonderfully melted cheese holds firm delicious brisket to a grilled sourdough sandwich. Awesome!
The burger was extremely good. Admittedly, a pre-formed patty, but this is Bankhead Brewing, not Bankhead Burgers. It was brilliantly seared and smothered with delicious cheese on a golden, buttery double-grilled bun. They certainly brought their “A” game with this delightful sandwich into a neighborhood which is fighting between Rodeo Goat, Fred’s Texas Café, M&O Station Grill, and The Love Shack.
Personally, I love the new addition and welcome them with a blazing 5/5.
