The oysters here were absolutely incredible, and that’s not even considering the price point. We were lucky and got there just in time for happy hour to get a dozen for $18. We’ve had oysters from the bougie spots in town (Waters, Eddie V’s), and the ones here weren’t the best we’ve ever had but also better than several of the ones we’ve had at the nicer places. I wish I’d gotten a second dozen! We’ll be back before the month is over though, lol.
We also got the fried catfish, jumbo shrimp, cod, fries, hush puppies, and okra to top it off. Everything was so fresh we had to wait to eat it. The okra and hush puppies were by far my favorite besides the oysters, and I’m normally not a hush puppy fan. The only complaint I have about the food is I think the fried fish could’ve used more seasoning, it tasted a little bland compared to everything else we had, but there were no leftovers besides a few fries and some okra… so I can’t complain too much.
The service was great—our waitress was very prompt and I can tell she really cared about our experience. I wish I would’ve remembered to ask for her name but we were too focused on the food! It’s a very small, homey restaurant you can tell has been around for a while. You don’t come here to feel fancy, you come here to feel at home. I especially enjoyed the calf fries illustration towards the front door, please don’t take that down 😂
You should definitely visit if you’re an oyster and seafood fan in general. We plan to keep coming back, especially...
Read moreI’m extremely disappointed with the experience my husband had when he picked up his lunch today. Total bill of $51.96 …he added $10 tip, we expected about $42 worth of food for one person. Unfortunately, the meal fell far short of that promise.
He ordered two shrimp tacos and two orders of boudain balls, but the kitchen quickly ran into issues. The staff mentioned there was only enough for one order of boudain balls. When my husband inquired about a substitution, he was allowed to choose something else and selected a serving of gumbo – which turned out to be a meager 4 to 6 ounces. Later on, he was informed that boudain balls were completely unavailable, so he was forced to settle for a shrimp cocktail instead. The experience left him very upset, especially after opening the shrimp tacos and finding them lacking.
To make matters worse, when I called the manager to express our concerns about receiving far less than the expected value, her only response was that “good is very expensive.” This dismissive attitude, coupled with the inadequate portions and multiple substitutions, makes it hard to justify the cost of what was supposed to be a satisfying one-person lunch.
You also need to not go by price 10-20...
Read moreReally good oysters but horrible customer service. Walked in, didn’t know where to order because it’s my first time. Waitress sat on her phone at the bar then finally looked at me to ask where I want to drink. I sat myself down and every time I needed something, I had to get her attention and ask because she was busy texting. Other customers walked in and she finished her texts before acknowledging them and saying hi. Just so rude. When it was time for my check she just put the machine in front of me, said NOTHING, and walked off. Like didn’t explain what she wanted me to do. I was so confused. Finally got her attention and asked. She said “oh ya put a tip and take your card out”. Girl, you can’t do the bare minimum? Stay at the table and explain, and just stay off your phone if you have customers. I understand this isn’t an ideal job but you should at least have basic manners. Don’t ignore people and stare at your phone.
For owner purposes if you’d like to tell your servers to do better: it was July 8 around 1:00pm. Waitress was blonde with hair pulled back. Didn’t catch her name....
