We visited for the first time last night after making reservations a week in advance. Since we arrived a little early, we grabbed seats at the bar. The bartenders were fantastic—friendly, attentive, and quick. A big highlight is their Happy Hour, which runs until 6:30 pm most days. That’s later than most places, and I love that it gives people who work standard business hours the chance to enjoy it. We ordered the house Pinot Grigio (I forgot to ask the name) and a Kirin Ichiban on draft. The Pinot was definitely a lower-tier wine, but still enjoyable for a house pour.
We started with spicy steamed edamame. While the flavor of the seasoning was good, the beans themselves were a little dry. About five minutes past our reservation time, we were seated. Understandably, it was a very busy Saturday night. Unfortunately, our table placement wasn’t ideal—we were squeezed between the sushi bar and another row of tables, leaving little room for servers or guests to pass by. At times it felt like someone might bump into our table.
To start, we ordered a bottle of coconut sake, a sake flight, and an espresso martini. The sake flight was excellent, and the tasting card provided fun context for each pour. The coconut sake, beautifully presented, was absolutely amazing. The espresso martini, however, was disappointing—it tasted more like instant coffee than cold brew, and the bitterness was overwhelming without cream. I passed it to a friend who enjoyed it more than I did.
For appetizers, we went all out: Dipping Crab, Tuna Tower, Beef Hot Rock, Brussels Sprouts, and Mango Crab Rangoons. The standouts were the Brussels Sprouts and the Rangoons. The sprouts were among the best I’ve ever had—caramelized with a sweet glaze and tossed with cashews that gave a buttery crunch. The Mango Crab Rangoons were fantastic: crispy, creamy, and balanced with just a touch of mango in the sauce. The Beef Hot Rock was also delicious, though the stone cooled down quicker than expected, making it tricky to get the most out of it. Still, the cut of beef was excellent—even tasty eaten raw.
The Tuna Tower, while visually impressive, lacked flavor and didn’t justify its higher price point. The best part was the roe on top. The Dipping Crab, however, was not a win for me. The texture was unpleasant, and the dipping sauce was overpoweringly briny—almost like straight fish sauce.
For entrées, we had the Truffle Salmon, Hotate Sashimi (Hokkaido scallop), Maguro Sashimi (bigeye tuna), and two off-menu rolls: the Black Dragon and the Rodeo. All of these were excellent. The salmon was delicate with a subtle truffle accent, the scallops were buttery and melt-in-your-mouth, and the tuna was rich and flavorful. Of the two rolls, the Black Dragon was my favorite, while the Rodeo offered a fun surf-and-turf twist with seared filet.
Overall, the experience was enjoyable. The service was outstanding—professional, knowledgeable, and attentive without being overbearing. Whoever trains the staff clearly does an excellent job. For 13 items, our bill came to $215 before tax and tip, which felt very reasonable.
That said, while everything was good, nothing truly wowed me. Given the hype around this restaurant, I expected more standout flavors. Seating was also uncomfortably tight, which detracted from the atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t tried it, but for us, it’s not worth driving over an hour again. Still, if I were in the area, I’d happily...
Read moreWith plenty of regret I write this review, I thought maybe giving them a second chance Would change my mind, But it hasn't. We Went inside with a party of of just under 15 people and Check in for They hopes of getting a table. They told us it would be approximately 2 hours which is understandable given the size of our table. However after about an hour and a 1/2 we went to go checkIn with them just to see if anything might open up sooner and they told us that we weren't on the waiting list anymore I believe this to be it's to be a glitch in their system as we were simply waiting outside but that's beside the point. They told us we could resign the waiting list and that it would be another 2 hours the 3 hostess At the front seems to not have any care or regard for our patients which was really disappointing because obviously we didn't want to give up the table if we had been outside waiting patiently. Only one person said they were willing to try and assist us as best they could but given that we had wait in 2 hours and had obviously never left the premises it's really disappointing that nobody tried to accommodate us better and get us a table or was even willing there was even willing to understand the mistake had 1 been made and get us seated. We were even purchasing drinks at the bar and had a tab open. I would however like to take the time to appreciate the bartender who was absolutely fantastic and really took care of us please don't let this rating be a reflection of your service you were outstanding with all of your drink recommendations and commendations and explanation of what certain drinks were and even accommodating mock tales for those of us who didn't want to indulge an alcohol. To the hostesses I hope you will take note of that young man who at least tried to pretend or sound like he cared because it went a long way with most of us but overall we felt like we weren't wanted wanted and so we decided but we decided after 3 hours of waiting That the staff is overall unfriendly the unfriendly the consideration for an honest mistake was disregarded disregard it and Overall we hope you do better next time with any other large parties or groups. Don't think I will be returning.

And let me tell you, Blue Sushi in Fort Worth, Texas, is one of those places that exceeded my expectations in every possible way. We stay at a nearby Hilton hotel bc this restaurant is a super close walk. - fair warning - be careful crossing the 6 way street if you are walking from the University St
From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the chic and modern ambiance of the restaurant, which perfectly sets the tone for the culinary delights to come. The service was impeccable, with knowledgeable and attentive staff that made me feel right at home. I ordered a draft Kirin - $6
Now, let's talk about the food. The sushi at Blue Sushi is simply divine. The quality and freshness of the fish are unmatched, and the creative combinations of flavors and textures are truly inspired. I highly recommend trying the Godzilla Roll, which is packed with crab, avocado, and tempura shrimp, and then topped with spicy tuna and eel sauce. Trust me; your taste buds will thank you. We had that last time. (This time I tried the crispy Brussel Sprouts, Crispy Rice cakes - which were amazing, and the Takaki Naki and Green Eggs & HAMA- Everything was stellar)
But what really sets Blue Sushi apart from other sushi restaurants is their commitment to sustainability. The restaurant takes great care to source its ingredients from responsible and eco-friendly suppliers, which is evident in every bite. As someone who cares deeply about the environment, this was an important factor for me, and it made my dining experience all the more enjoyable. Especially the service. We ate at the bar this time. it was memorable. Beautiful Fish Tank.
