Cafe Republic — Restaurant in Fort Worth

Let me preface by saying ; I was a first time customer today , and I have worked in the service industry as a bartender and server for close to 8 years . I was really caught off guard by the way I was treated . I ordered the club sandwich with fries and a side of ranch to go. I've been wanting to try this place really bad because I read great reviews and its right by my apartments and my car has been in the shop for 2 months.. The food looked good online and I heard they had great service so I wanted to support them. So anyways I walked there to pick up my order (it's 100° outside),and on the menu it says the club sandwich comes with Turkey ,aged Cheddar cheese , bacon, lettuce, and Tomato, and mayo, and forgive me I'm a cheese guy. Lol I can't enjoy a sandwich or burger without cheese . So I walk all the way back to my apartment with the order and take a bite of my sandwich and instantly realize there's no cheese . I inspected it thoroughly just to be sure lol. I will post pics. So I call them, and the lady who answers is super sweet .. almost unbearably sweet and nice. I simply tell her that I was just there and what my To-Go order was , and she says "oh were so sorry sir we will remake your order for you it should be ready in about 10 minutes." I was so gracious, and complimented what a sweet lady she was And told her I was so thankful . I told her I had already taken a bite of my sandwich and asked her should I bring it back? And she told me "oh no sir it's fine we appreciate your business we will remake it the right way for you and you just come up here and get it. So I'm about to walk back in the door of the restaurant restaurant after walking all the way back , and some other woman calls me back on my phone and says "Idk who you talked to sir, but we need you to bring your other sandwich back to prove there's no cheese on it " lol so I said ok the other lady told me I could keep it and ya'll would just replace it with the correct order. So I walk all the way back to my apartment again and get the sandwich that I ate a piece off of , and then walk back up to the restaurant and tell them the situation and give it to them . Some little short haired lady comes out of the kitchen and might as well slapped me across the face the way she treated me ... she says " So you're bringing this back because why ?!? What's wrong with it ?" Looks to another employee and says this comes with Turkey , ham, bacon, lettuce, and tomato right? There's not supposed to be cheese on it ...?" The co-worker says no it does come with cheese .." so she storms off into the kitchen without even telling me if they are remaking my order or not ... so I just sit there for 10 minutes and nobody says anything to me .. and I'm like "are you guys remaking the order or refunding it ?" And another girl says she doesn't know and walks back there... I still don't hear anything for another 5 minutes so 15 more minutes total, and I have to meet somebody at my apartment to sell a piece of furniture off Facebook market, then I call them back from my apartment and ask if they are going to remake my order or reimburse me ? The girl was very apologetic and says they are remaking my order so I walk up there for the 3rd time.. it's now been an hour of my day, and that little short haired rude woman brings it out to me and doesn't even say a single word . Just hands it to me and storms back off into the kitchen.... I was in shock . I've never had an experience like this ... the lack of communication between staff and poor hospitality and being hostile towards me when I did nothing wrong ... not even an apology ... I am never coming back and I am quite frankly scared to eat my food now because that lady might have spit in it or something ... smh . Such a horrible experience.. I'm very let down and just feel so...

Personally, I strongly disliked my experience here. It was my first time with my family and friends, and it was, in my personal opinion, horrible. While we had started out somewhat strong with a kind smile from a worker upfront it quickly went downhill.

As a person of color I felt strongly uncomfortable by the cop flags there, and while everyone can have a political opinion, I don't see how it has to do anything with eating - and the only reason we were there was because it was recommended to us by the friends we were with.

Next was the service, not only did we have to wait almost an hour to be seated but our waitress seemed very impatient and rude, she would interrupt me and my family when talking and ordering. She had a tone of someone who didn't want to be there and the behavior of someone frustrated even though we had just gotten there.

Another thing was the food, I had ordered The Simpler, I believe it was called, and not only were the eggs disgusting but the hashbrowns did not have any flavor or seasoning, it tasted undercooked and the eggs were once again unseasoned and gross and while there was salt and pepper on the table, it was not the same as it would taste if it was cooked with the seasoning.

Then our waitress had asked if we would like some coffee and my family member had said okay, not knowing it would be almost an extra five dollars to our tab. And then we were charged an extra ten dollars for having a table more than six despite me and my family being separated from the rest and only having three people in our group.

And this is not even mentioning the service we received when coming in, despite one smile at the beginning, there were about four people standing at the front doing nothing but talking while there were about three small groups of people who were needing to be seated. And yes, there were tables free for seating but the workers stayed upfront doing nothing but speaking to one another instead of doing their job.

I think my favorite thing of it all was the wheat toast with the strawberry jam. Otherwise everything was strongly disliked, and I would not recommend coming here as a person of color.

We are not coming here again. :(

I have never eaten here before and never will again. A one and done. I decided to because I was in the area and it was close by and I wanted breakfast. I order the avocado toast with egg whites, the lone star omelet, grits with white toast, and two pancakes. I ordered my food to go, and it came out real fast, which was kind of questionable for what was ordered. Once I got home, I saw why. The avocado was just split open and look like someone just took a fork to it and smashed some of the middle but not like you would when you do eat avocado toast as it would be smashed up real good so you can spread it on the toast. The toast was not toast. It was bread with just butted spread over it. they never put it in a toaster. The egg whites were really runny like they didn't get cooked all the way and were poured out of an egg white container. The omelet was ok. The white toast that came with it was again not toast. It was white bread with butter on it that was never toasted. I am not sure they know what toast is up there. The grits were very plain and tasted flavorless, like they took all the flavor out of it before they served it. I couldn't add enough butter or sugar to make it taste good. The only thing that had some flavor was the pancakes, but they were flat, not fluffy like a pancake is supposed to be. It was kind of like a crepe. If I wanted a crepe, I would have ordered that. I had to toast the bread, cook the egg whites, and smash the avocado to make the breakfast that i ordered. I could have stayed home and did all that and saved money doing it. I will never go there again and will not recommend it to anyone I know. I hope they really take a hard look at their cooks and make them start cooking the food that people order to go and not rush it just to get it out the door. The next time, someone could get food poisoning or something worse. It's funny how the owner will respond to reviews with great reviews but will not respond or try to offer up an apology. Definitely will not return, and I will not recommend it to all my military...
