Beautiful new restaurant. We chose to ate here after receiving numerous beautiful advertisements and after having their delicious sweet pulled pork that they catered to an event we'd been to.
We ate at 11:15am. The proteins were all room temperature -- there was no steam coming from them and they just looked dead! We had chicken and pulled pork. I was not asked if I wanted cheese on my bowl -- I received it and then my item was placed through a little conveyor belt to melt the cheese -- and presumably reheat the meat?! Some al dente black beans, lettuce and other elements were added -- but the dish was ultimately horrible due to the proteins having little life left in them. Nothing was hot or even really warm.
Their tortillas? The corn tortillas looked like they were made by a child following his abuela's recipe -- completely uneven and inconsistent to each other. The flour tortillas? Rubbery and greasy? How did they do that? I'm confident that they started with the right recipe and lost EVERYTHING in execution.
My wife also ordered the most flavorless chicken tortilla soup. The same not-cooked-even-remotely-close-to-order chicken from before was placed at the bottom of a to-go bowl, the the attendant dumped some guacamole on it, then poured chicken broth and some other things.... which means, if you know where I'm going -- the result had all the components right -- but absolutely no depth of flavor. THAT IS NOT HOW TO MAKE A SOUP. I call that a pour-over.
The employees working the line were all less than exceptional at communicating and my wife and I were confused due to lack of direction.
None of the food tasted particularly fresh and despite the best efforts from my wife and I - our resulting Baja Bowls were completely incohesive.
Costa Vida has all of the right elements -- but does not appear to have proper management or be chef inspired like their competition -- Chipotle and Freebirds. There are tons of interesting ideas, beautiful restaurant design -- but poor execution and bad ideas with food handling. ...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI am never EVER EVER EVER!!!! coming here again. And I absolutely love Costa vida but not this location. I live 30 to 40 minutes away from the other location which is in Plano but that's where I was introduced to Costa vida in the first place and should have stuck to it but I thought since they were the same restaurant but this one was just closer I said hey why not try it but I should have just stuck to the Plano location they are very generous and genuine food is always prepared in a phenomenal way never had to complain it was great however today I went to the Costa vida in alliance area I was just getting off work and I happened to get there right when they open first off the lady that started my burrito was totally rude. I was exceptionally nice and I told her I know you guys just open do you need me to wait to order then she stated if you're hungry so I didn't pay it any mind she closed my burrito up before I was even finished giving her the ingredients that I would like in my burrito so I didn't say anything then the checkout cashier was rude as well I'm just totally done with this place I will not ever in my living life spend another dime of money at this location however I will take that drive to Costa vida in Plano where I'm welcomed. This location customer service is disgusting it's scary.... I tried to call this location to let them know that their rice was hard as if it wasn't even cooked which it was not I can't even get in contact with them I keep calling and no one answers I want my freaking money back I don't care if I payed a $1 the food was horrible. I wouldn't have received service like this if I just went to the Plano location. What a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast night my husband ran to the Fort Worth location to grab a late dinner to go. He could see that it was close to closing so he rushed in. The restaurant had not closed and they did not tell him that it was too late to serve him. One of the appealing things about your restaurant is that it is made to order and you can have your meal made exactly how you like it. He said that he wanted 2 mango chicken salads. The young lady who was helping him was very rude and very put out to be serving him. Even though he ordered salads she said there would be no tortilla because they were getting ready to close and did not want to take the trouble to make more. Before he could say what toppings he wanted she started throwing globs of whatever was still out onto the salad. For example a giant scoop of cilantro when he said he didn't want it. She just rudely said, "Sorry". Finally my husband had to say, "Stop!" because she was not making our orders correctly. She stormed off and a young man started to help him. He wasn't quite as rude but did the same thing-just started throwing things into the bowl. What we ended up with was a bowl, not a salad, with disproportioned amounts of toppings.
Costa Vida is not a cheap, fast food chain and that is why we make the effort to go there and pay a little more. Our business was not valued last night. If they did not want to serve him then they should close earlier or they should have told him when he walked in. I imagine that if you close your store at 9, then costumers are welcomed until 9, otherwise you would close earlier.
We will be taking our...
