As it was my first time ever at a genghis grill, upon walking in there wasn’t a single worker in sight. There wasn’t even a single idea in the slightest where to go or what you do. Do you wait to be sat? Do you go up to the counter of food? When we decided to just go to the food counter, we waited for about 10 minutes before we finally saw a worker who asked someone else to help us, Who we had to wait on to get to us for that matter. She was the bartender it seemed like and she seemed to talk real slow and seemed out of it when she proceeded to ask us questions, like have we been helped yet etc. When we walked in I noticed men smoking outside on the patio who in fact turned out to be cooks/workers. One in particular cooked my food and I was a little grossed out by it to be honest. When it comes to the food and drinks the tea was definitely sour and old and the meat looked old and the taste was mediocre. I’ll probably get food poisoning but thought this was by far the worst place to go to for food in the whole lake worth area. From customer service to food to atmosphere. If I could leave no stars I would. Drug test your employees, they all looked messed up. One man who made our bowls, looked dazed and confused and couldn’t follow simple instruction. I asked for salt and pepper and he put salt on mine and pepper on My boyfriends bowl and looked up and was like what else. Lol what else?? Um the pepper that you didn’t even put on my bowl please. He seemed slow and glossy eyed. Could be a disability factor and I don’t want to discriminate but come on. It didn’t look like he was even supposed to be working that station/food bar. So where are your employees?? Oh, hiding in the back of course. We left shortly after getting our food and all the sudden there’s workers out and about now. The bartender was no way that busy with two tables and ourselves in the restaurant to be out of it and forgetting things and acting frantic like she was. Long story short, avoid this place. Take your money elsewhere. Wasn’t even offered any incentive or discount for the terrible first time and upon Paying and leaving the bartender said “I’m sorry you had a terrible first time” and just smiled and stared at me awkwardly. Yeah you sounded real sorry and looked real sorry bent over on your phone by the sink...
Read moreI love a good Genghis Grill, but when I walked into this one I thought I was being taped for Kitchen Nightmares. You immediately were greeted at the door by the smell of sitting dirty water or sewage, and banquettes that had the pleather stripped off of them. The hostess with pink stripped hair said she would get us our bowls for the Make Your Own selections, then walked off.
I used to love that they had thinly sliced chicken breast, but apparently this location was too lazy to cut it properly. The chicken was all different sizes which means it would cook unevenly. But what really concerned me was that the raw chicken was swimming in chicken blood, and it looked like none of the meat was being held at the right temperature.
One of the three employees came over to inform us that we weren't filling our bowls properly - we could only chose items to the left, not to the right. He then went back to gossiping behind the line with the other employees about who was gay, and who wasn't.
I couldn't stop thinking about the chicken temp, and asked for a manager so I could question whether it was being handled properly. The thought of getting sick off of improperly handled chicken wasn't on my bingo card for the weekend.
After waiting over five minutes for the manager, she finally came out and acted like my concern was an inconvenience. She brought out a Dollar Tree meat thermometer, and after saying she had checked the temperature THAT MORNING (it was around 3pm at this time) and pushing it into the bottom of the island of meat proudly announced that it was at 39 degrees. Chicken goes bad and an grow bacteria at under 40 degrees, and I wasn't willing to risk it.
When I looked this location up on the web, it shows that this location is "temporally closed." I know that it has made me lose confidence in what this restaurant group is now offering, and teh quality of it's offerings which makes me sad - Ghengis Grill used to be one of my favorite take out spots, but I don't think I will ever be able to forget that slimy chicken that was served at...
Read more2 part review. 1st time we went it seemed like everything was sticky and dirty. Our server was great and explained how it all works, to make your own plate. We found ourselves battling with the cooks to get food at the food bar. The food was ok. Overall we didn't have a horrible experience but we left knowing we wouldn't be back for a while.
2nd time, a year later. We went to a different location. Once again. Every surface was sticky. There's a certain type of noodle we don't like so we were asking the server about them prior to ordering. She reassured us the noodles were NOT the type that we were talking about and they SO were but we didn't know until they cooked our food and brought it to us.
When we went up to put food on our plates to have grilled, several of the ingredients were missing. The cook was complaining because whoever was supposed to man the area had disappeared. He was having to get us the ingredients we needed and the ingredients he also needed. We stood there for at least 10-15 minutes. waiting for help. We didn't know where any of the servers were and the cooks were all super busy. By this point we were just getting frustrated. We probably just should have left.
The server wouldn't even put our drinks on the table until we got our food, and we like to have a drink before our meal. So we just sat there looking around, empty-handed. No waters or anything. I hadn't even eaten in 24 hours so I was starving but even that hungry, I just didn't like any part of it.
When the server came back to our table she saw my whole bowl of food sitting there and I told her that the noodles were exactly the type we didn't like and it seemed like a bunch of flavoring sauce had been put on it that I didn't want. It's the first time in my whole life I've ever told a server. I didn't like my food. She just said "oh. Ok. Do you want a to-go box?" No reassurances or condolences. No, 'try us again sometime'. No offer of a discount. Nothing. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. $80 for two meals and two drinks.
We won't...
