We've lived here for 3+ years and this is definitely the best sushi in North FW. Even rivals/is better than downtown Blue/etc. It was our first time here, and immediately after my wife tried the yakitori tare and takoyaki appetizers, we knew this place would be good. Even the house hot sake was great! Usually they are just "okay". But this one was really good. My wife ordered the Vegetable Tempura Udon, vegetable tempura, and volcano roll. She said it was the best udon she's had in a while, and certainly in the NFW area. It was slightly fishy to me, but she said that is how it is supposed to be. Vegetable tempura was fantastic, and the volcano roll was good and actually had some spice to it, unlike other volcano rolls we've had. I ordered a number of nigiri, some recommended by the waitress, who was super friendly and delightful. When the nigiri came, Kai himself brought out the plate and explained each piece. And not the usual "oh this is salmon, this is the tuna, this is the snapper". He explained each one and how he prepared it and what sauce/topping was on each piece. You could tell the pride he had in making each one. The sagoshi (paired with the shrimp nigiri in the photos) was sublime. The texture of the crunchy fired skin with the sauce (I was told it took 72 hours to make this dish) and garlic flake topping was fantastic. Usually I am not a mackerel fan, but paired with the other flavors in this dish made this my second favorite of the night. Usually I add a bit of wasabi to my nigiri, but the way this food was presented, I knew I shouldn't modify it. Only a simple dab of soy sauce to each one. And it was some of if not the best sushi I have ever had. Each piece had their own delightful toppings that added to the flavor of the fish, making each dish not only unique, but so so delicious. The hamachi/yellowtail was the best nigiri I've ever had. Bar none. The only "downside" to this place is that it is more pricey than other sushi places in the area. But it is worth it! Maybe 30/40% more pricewise? But the quality is 400% better than anything else we've had in the area. We were given a shrimp nigiri on the house, (I assume because of their grand opening and we were some the of last people in the place at around 8/8:30) and my wife said it was delicious. Like actually good. What place have you ever been to where somebody has mentioned or even talked about the shrimp nigiri? The fact that such a small/simple dish was something we thought was excellent shows how much care is put into the food served at Kai. This is our new sushi place. We will be coming back here again soon, and look forward to our next meal here!

We’ve been here twice already for the Sashimi Moriawase, and it never disappoints. Every slice is fresh, buttery, and beautifully presented — truly a work of art on a plate. You can taste the quality in every bite. The restaurant is clean, calm, and inviting, with a relaxed atmosphere that enhances the dining experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, making you feel genuinely welcomed from start to finish. Our 9-year-old also enjoyed tasting the sashimi and ultimately fell in love with their ebi tempura, chicken yakitori, gyoza, and karaage — delicious, kid-approved favorites that rounded out the meal perfectly. Their tuna tataki was delicious. To end our meal, we shared some strawberry and mango mochi — the perfect light and refreshing treat to finish off an already wonderful dining experience. It’s the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. Highly recommended for any sushi and sashimi lover, and it's family-friendly too!

Everything was excellent!❤️ We tried Taco Wasabi from the appetizer menu. It’s made with chopped octopus, and it’s extremely delicious!! 🐙Very chewy and flavorful. We also ordered the chef’s choice sushi and got 12 different pieces🍣. They were all so good, especially the one made with tuna—super soft, like a cloud in the mouth. Our next dish was oysters 🦪 with lots of stuff on top. They are a bit pricey ($20 per oyster), but they’re not your regular oysters. They’re not to fill your stomach but to fill your heart! Very special. Everything was so tasty, so we couldn’t stop eating and ordered the Super Dragon Roll🐉. Absolutely loved it! For drinks, we took their premium sake flight and later their homemade sake with lychee syrup🍶. Highly recommend visiting this place and trying their menu. It’s very special.✨✨✨

I've been here twice and can confirm that the amazing customer service I had the first time was there the second time as well. The environment here is very friendly! The food is absolutely fantastic! I was referred here by a client and they did not disappoint.

The lunch sashimi special may have possibly been the best sashimi I've ever had. The presentation was perfect. The fish was obviously fresh and each piece had a small but thoughtful topping added that truly enhanced the flavor of the fish and added a nice touch of texture. 10/10

I can be a little fat and always forget to take pictures until I'm almost done eating but I will next time because I will absolutely be back!

I've also tried: Miso soup- very flavourful Oyaku Don - the chicken was so tender and flavored well Spicy Buta Don - the pork was perfect and the sauce on top was spicy and had great flavor, I could have handled a little more heat Spicy salmon roll - fresh and delicious

If you've made it this far I plan to keep trying something new every time because I'm convinced everything made here will taste exceptional. Please give this...
