I really wanted to love this place. I was excited to try it, but the food was very disappointing. I came by to get some sides to go with dinner at home. I was craving some good southern collard greens, and mac and cheese. I was told they don’t offer small sides, only medium or large. Although it says otherwise online (door dash, square, etc) but I said alright, that’s fine, and got the medium size. ($6 each) I figured we’d just have a good amount for a few of us. I got Mac and cheese, greens, bbq beans, and a baked potato. I also requested bbq sauce, and the pickles, onions and jalapeños on the side (which I never got). Let’s start with the Mac and cheese, to me a good Mac and cheese should be CHEESY, and have that crunch on the top of a little burnt cheese. This had neither, and lacked any flavor at all. The noodles were hard and it tasted like the cheap Mac that comes pre made from a bag. I had two bites, and tossed it. The greens, overcooked, mushy, inedible. Broke my heart. Really what I wanted the most. I really tried, after the third bite I said I can’t do it. Never had greens that were inedible. The BBQ beans, now them beans were good. Real good. I’d eat a whole bowl of those. They doin those RIGHT. The potato was good, slightly undercooked (still had a bite to it) but I appreciated the pepper over it. I love me some pepper. Their bbq sauce is super sweet, so if that’s your thing, you’ll like it. I personally like a good spice and sweet mix. This was all sugar. Now let’s talk about the size of these “medium sides”… I felt like I got the small size that was “unavailable”. There is no way these are medium size sides and if they are, I’d be changing that yesterday. It’s hardly a serving for even one person. And that person needs to be about 80 lbs. I paid a lot for this, and I was upset by it. Overall, I didn’t have their meat, so I can’t comment on that, but if the greens and mac ain’t good, I won’t try again. I do hope they fix this, and are successful. Seem like nice folks. But I work hard for my money and don’t like to feel like I just...
Read moreOh my goodness, this was the "berry best" bbq i've had in awhile, near the best ever. I ordered the 1 meat plate w/brisket, ocra, beans, & cornbread. The brisket was breath taking, i was literally pulling it apart with my spoon. It was so tender, flavorful; just plain awesome. I was eating it w/o the sauce it was that good. And they gave me such a huge portion size, i think 3-4 huge slices. I literally made myself sick eating it because it was so much but oh so good. Again, one of the top briskets i've had in DFW. The beans were also so tasty. They look like baked beans from a can but wow, the flavor; just right. The ocra was cooked to perfection, even better dipped in the boom sauce. And their sauce was wonderful. They forgot the cornbread but we asked & they brought it right out. Cornbread also had great flavor, moist; yummy. Only negative is they wrap in plastic wrap. Only problem is when you upwrap it, the cornbread sticks to the wrapper real bad & falls apart. But not really a negative, i just took the crumbs & still ate them, it was that good. Pro tip, i put the crumbs in the beans, ohhh, amazing! My boys devoured their chopped brisket sandwiches. They got mac & cheese, i had some; it was ok, even better when i put the boom sauce on it. Was a little dry the mac & cheese. My wife loved the brisket nachos. The service was amazing, so fast; had our food very quickly. The lady who took our order was very pleasant, wonderful to talk too; very sweet lady. The two gentlemen bringing out the food were also very sweet guys. Just loved this place, will definitely be back. I've already told my father-in-law & a friend at the gym about this place. Can't say enough good things about it. I would give...

If you’re on the hunt for life-changing barbecue, look no further than Lil JJ’s Smokehouse. Nestled in a cozy corner with wood-paneled warmth and the scent of slow-smoked meats drifting through the air, this place serves up food that tastes like it was made with heart—and a whole lot of soul.
Let’s talk brisket. One bite of that thick, juicy, smoke-ringed cut and I instantly knew: they make it with love. It’s tender, perfectly seasoned, and kissed with just the right amount of smoke. Each slice is a reminder of why barbecue is an art form when done right.
And the mac and cheese? Honestly, it must be made in heaven. Creamy, rich, and with just the right texture to the pasta, it melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting another forkful before you’ve even finished the first.
The plate was rounded out with collard greens, peach cobbler, a savory sausage link, cornbread, and more, creating a full Southern experience that hit every craving.
For those who like things a little more handheld, the brisket sandwich did not disappoint—stuffed with thick cuts of that heavenly brisket on a perfectly toasted bun, it’s everything you want in a BBQ sandwich and more.
This was a 5-star meal across the board. I’ve never had barbecue better than this, and I say that without hesitation.
