I think it was the last weekend of August when I visited Guapo Taco. I had four chicken street tacos as they were out of birria (uh-oh!) The next weekend I learned through the comments that they closed down, but was happy to learn that they are upgrading to a bigger location and changing their name to Los Guapos! It's finally Saturday and I thought I'd come by to see if they were open, and they are! I love birria, and had to get their birria plate plus a side of chips and salsa, and avocado slices. Not only did they upgrade in location but I think they upgraded the taste: which was excellent! Though I personally like the tortillas fried to a crisp, these were really good and they held the delicious birria meat, cilantro, onion salsa and avocado slices. Limes would be great to squeeze on the meat before other toppings, but none was included. Overall, it went excellent with the delicious consome! The chips are really good and crunchy and the salsa was ok. It was more tomato tasting, not spicy. I am overall happy to have come out to try this new location and sincerely hope all the best for Los Guapos. As a birria lover, I do see they have more to choose from in their excellent menu. However I see they serve birria ramen! When the remaining summer heat finally leaves, I would so love to...
Read moreThis place was amazing! We went here on a whim after poorly planning our Valentines night. They’re new so they weren’t packed, but they should have been! I’ve eaten at a lot of really yummy taco places but this is now one of my favorites. The manager (or owner? He had owner vibes) was very kind and polite to us, the FOH staff was helpful in answering any of our questions, and the food was ON POINT. Hot, fresh, carefully put together, and delicious! I had elotes con carne but the carnitas tacos are the best, and I love that the plate comes with elote instead of just rice and beans. We sat on the back patio and the manager came and turned on the heaters for us even though we were the only ones out on the patio. The back patio is so peaceful and pretty, and would be even more perfect in the spring time. They have fans out there too, don’t worry! The only criticism I have is that the salsa and chips tastes a lot like jarred salsa from any grocery store. But the green sauce...
Read moreI stumbled on Guapo Taco food truck over a year ago and my husband and I fell in love, it was our spot at least twice a week. Than all of a sudden the business closed and we were devastated. So my husband and I tried to find the next best thing and we came across Maestro Tacos , and we loved it. We happen to drive by West 7th and that's how we found out the owner turned the gas station location and food truck into Los Guapos. The food is nothing like we remembered it. My husband ordered 10 tacos with another dish and I ordered 10 chicken tacos. If I knew what I was getting I would not have paid $80+ As you can see by my pictures from the food truck vs los guapos restaurant. I guess I was under the impression the food would be exactly the same from the gas station/truck . If you loved the truck food just keep in mind it's not the same. I'm so disappointed , i stalked this business since it 'temporarily closed' just for it to be completely different. I wish it nothing...
