Here I am 3yrs later at this place. I don't even feel like typing out every thing wrong this time. I only came because someone else invited me. I certainly wouldn't have chosen this place. I see not much has changed. Food still bland!!!! Ugh. Service worse this time. People in my party were annoyed with the food and service too. How this place has the score it does is beyond me. Will never return. Previous review May 2019 ->Very disappointed. I had real high hopes based on the reviews. I'm usually the most picky at the dinner table but even the other guests at my table were let down as well. Our table before tip was $275 and have had better tasting food for much less. The service was good... bread and butter phenomenal...the pickles phenomenal. Mac n cheese pretty good. Each item thereafter we found ourselves saying this would be good if.... The kettle one drink was over iced and watered down quickly so that was the first replacement requested. The peppercorn ny strip steak cooked med rare as requested was tasty but tough to slice. The prime ny strip cooked med well as requested as well but still tough to cut into had to keep dragging the knife and not flavorful at all. The filet mignon cooked perfect but missing flavor. The brocc...maybe some like it aldente i guess you'd call it but i had to press harder with my knife to cut off a floret. The brussel sprouts with bacon were hard and dry and not very flavorful i left them on the table. The lobster bisque roux was dark and way too strong almost a scorched flavor. I had it packed to go with my steak but it sat in the fridge at home i threw it out. . I didn't even eat the rest of my steak and i had more than half left. I took maybe 3 bites off it and got frustrated trying to cut it and just the lack of grilled flavor. Can't recall the issue with the mushrooms one guest ordered but they returned and replaced with creamed corn and didn't like that either but kept it. I ordered the Oscar streak topping asparagus hollandaise crab. i paid $15 for this and there was barely any crab meat in it. I didn't complain though. Eventually the waiter asked if i wanted more topping and i accepted hoping to get more crab meat this time which i did so that was better. I got chocolate cake for dessert and ate all of it but it was dry even with the frosting all over it. We kept the majority of our food despite being very unhappy. We just didn't want to be the complaining table or make the waiter feel harrassed or like we were trying to be cheap but spending that much money and leaving ready to go eat somewhere else was a total let down. I won't recommend

On Saturday July 8, 2017, we walked into the Silver Fox Steakhouse, on University Drive. It is a nice venue, comfortable but not stuffy and very lively on a Saturday evening. Our server Gabriel offered us the wine menu and brought out some bread and butter that was very warm and good. The wine list is well selected - not overly long but a good selection of various styles. I chose their Franciscan blend called Equilibrium. I enjoyed the entire glass , but found it to be pricy. (I looked it up while sitting there and it sells for about $15. My glass cost $14. Actually, most of the menu was pricy. Examples include the prime NY strip at $47 and the bone in prime ribeye (which I was seriously eyeing) at $48 led me to choose a less expensive alternative. Upon looking at the menu we were impressed by the awesome selection of appetizers and meals. It was not that there were too many items, but that the items they did have sounded very good. Like crab cakes, scallops, ahi tuna, onion rings, lobster bisque, and more. To start, she chose lobster bisque and I selected the scallops. The scallops came very nicely seared and hot. Some might say that they were overcooked, but I liked them just the way they were. Sad to say that the sauce they were in was cool and that really took away from the enjoyment of good hot scallops. One of them also had not been cleaned well enough and has some sandy crunch to it that was unpleasant. Her lobster bisque was just not good. It was lukewarm at best, was a bit too thick, and, most important, had very little flavor of any kind, least of all Lobster. She actually sent the bisque back. On to the entrees for the evening. She requested the Petite Filet while I ordered the smaller portion of Prime Rib. My prime rib was very good and cooked exactly to order as was her filet. She was particularly pleased with both the flavor and the tenderness of her filet. It was a small filet but she ate avery bite of it. On the other hand, my small prime rib was actually quite large and I could not finish it all. There was enough that it was well worth getting a to go box for it. My entree came with mashed potatoes and snap peas. The peas were warm, but they hadn't been cooked at all. I am a soft vegetable lover, so these were basically inedible for me. The warm gravy Gabriel served over the potatoes was excellent (and hot). Overall, there were ups and downs through our meal. And the name may be SILVER Fox, but I think you need to be a PLATINUM level customer to frequent the Fox.

2nd and 3rd visits - it does matter what you wear here! If you dress down, the service is questionable. Dress more to their liking the service is impeccable. It's not a good quality, but the food is delicious regardless. 1st visit. Party of 2.5 - Ticket $500 with Tip.......... I appreciated being able to eat a fine meal without dressing and without a reservation. However, I did not appreciate the emphasis our server put on prices (we can read and obviously would not have chosen a place we can not afford). The food was good. The Beef Croustade appetizers were tender and perfectly cooked. I ordered two of this months' special strawberry infused vodka drink. Both quite delicious. There was a miscommunication between staff, and we were initially served someone else's dinner. It is a bit of an odd feeling to have someone else's food sat in front of you and having to get the attention of another staff member to remedie the issue. I enjoyed the amusement of picking our steak knives. (The only picture taken) The Filet Dinner for Two is a fantastic deal! Although my husband did say both steaks were lacking flavor being that he did not choose to cover his steak with any extras offered. He also enjoyed a 12oz Lobster Tail, which unfortunately was overcooked and a bit tough. Still tasty. I chose the Baseball Cut Filet covered in the Black Truffle butter served with garlic mash. It was also a bit overcooked but absolutely flavorful. We enjoyed the Gouda Mac n Cheese the most. Our Brussels were crispy but also dry. There was also another side, but alas, it was forgettable whatever it was. Our server was able to bring an off menu side of fresh strawberries for our L.O. Much appreciated!! For dessert, we ordered the chocolate cake and CremeBrule. Mediocre in comparison to local restaurants. Overall, it was a good experience. We will be back because we never go to a place only once. I'm hoping to have a five-star experience when we do.

Went to your restaurant this weekend with some friends. This was our second choice, The Keg was our first, but they were booked solid. I called and y'all were able to sit a party of 7 in 10 minutes, on a Saturday night at 7:15pm. That's awesome. Upon arrival, we were greeted and our table was ready. That is about where the awesomeness ended. After being seated it took our waitress, Jaycee, 15 minutes to come to our table and greet us. I would be OK with that but she only had a two top and a bar assist...from what I could tell. After greeting us and taking our drink order, it took another 10 minutes to get our drinks, and upon arrival of our drinks, I ordered two appetizers, the Shrimp Cocktail and the Seafood Sampler. 20 minutes pass and we get two loafs of complimentary bread, which were devoured immediately by our party. It took the appetizers another 10 minutes to come to the table. Both appetizers were delicious, full of flavor, a little small for the price but I still enjoyed it non-the-less. IF the establishment was slammed, I could understand, but y'all were not. There were plenty of service in the main dining and there were empty tables and booths. If Jaycee needed help, she could have gotten it. After the appetizers came out, we stated we were ready to submit our order, Jaycee stated she needed to get a pen and paper from the bar to take the order and I felt that I needed to request from her that she return promptly from retrieving the pen and paper and not terry along her way, due to the so far horrible service we were getting. Although requested, it did not help. Jaycee was not seen for about 8 minutes...and we were sitting "at the bar". Fine. After ordering our food, two scotches and 35 minutes later, our food arrived. Now, let me tell you. I am a foodie. I love food. I love steak. I had your 16oz Prime Rib, medium rare. That steak was divine. Cooked perfectly, seasons well, served with the appropriate amount of mashed potatoes and snap peas...if it would have been appropriate, i would have licked my bowl clean. No complaints from me on the kitchen. With that said, I could have been so hungry from having to wait soooo long for any food...from the complimentary bread, to the ordered appetizers to the food to the table.... I could have been so hungry a grilled flip flop would have been great. After everyone was done, which most of us loved the food, one in our party complained that her burger was not done enough, but she still ate 80% of it, so she really did not have a legitimate complaint if you ask me, it came time for the bill. I picked it up as a Birthday/Christmas present to the table. Now, I have eaten at several great steak houses. Pappa Bros in Dallas, Rough Creek in Glen Rose, Eddie V's in Fort Worth... like i said, I like food... but for 4 benjamins you would think the service would have been a little more spot on for that price.... in the midst of a remodel or not, I am a paying customer and would expect to be treated as such. At this time, I will not be giving any of my friends a recommendation to visit your establishment. Great food and piss poor service means I need to find somewhere else to eat and spend my money....
