The Original Birrieria Chalio — Restaurant in Fort Worth

Im not a person to leave review but since the moment we walked in it took them 30 minute to even attend to us because I asked them if someone was going to attend to us. Then we ordered our food that was good but then we ordered ceviche it came out with old frozen pico on top we asked for a fresh pico we were willing to eat it like that and remove it but when my coworker tried it. She stated the ceviche was spoiled we called the waitress over to let her know, and the waitress was very disrespectful and stated no one complained about the food today and that she was going to get the Owner to try the food then they brought the cook out with the food and the cook stated that she already tried it and it was good and that it was not old pico, but you can clearly tell that it was old. Once I proceeded to tell her that she stated she did not care. The cook, then proceeded to walk off and told me to leave the restaurant If we did not like it, and we were still charged for it. No wonder they do not have any business anymore if that’s how they treat people. Waitress are very unprofessional. We proceeded to ask for the check once we received the check, we went to pay they didn’t even ask if we wanted to split the bill before hand and when we got there to pay they made us pay all together they told us that they don’t split the check. I have been here with family a handful of times. First of all I don’t eat meat but my family liked it when we first went there. I remember that the servings were very generous, the molcajetes were big and there was plenty of food for leftovers. Then I went there again about 2 year later right after COVID and wow there was a huge difference in quality… Me and my family were waiting for someone to seat us and no one came for like 10 minutes and it was at 1/2 capacity. Then another time I asked for a vegetarian burrito and when I received it I was skeptical because of the sauce and as soon as I lifted it I saw a puddle of chicken (stings?) I was shocked that I waited for was so long and my food had meat. I told the waitress and she went to the kitchen and came back and told didn’t see any meat. I was shocked at her ignorance and she said that there was no chicken, it was a sauce with chicken in it however it was removed. I told her that is not vegetarian and she hesitantly took it away. The food here is amazing and the cooks are literally carrying this restaurant. I got the Molcajete Yucateco and the red sauce was to die for and went well with all the different meats that it came with. That chorizo was specifically good and will ask for extra the next time I get this molcajete. Also, the refried beans were the best yet! Something so simple yet delicious. I did have a few issues, the first was being told that they weren’t going to separate the bill although there was 17 of us. It wasn’t until I mentioned that I would like to talk to the manager that they allowed the bill to be split. I did appreciate the understanding since it would have been difficult for one person to pay the whole bill. I also don’t like that the menu doesn’t have a price on their items even though they used to be available in older menus. I understand that prices increase but I want to know what I’m paying, it shouldn’t be a surprise until the end. The last issue is my wife telling me that the bathroom had no soap nor paper towels.
