This place is absolutely delicious and nice/cozy. Bottom line - I would recommend you trying this place! It has amazing mouth feel and taste and is absolutely delicious. Customer Service - Our waiter was Joel Schimel and he was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. Cool down to earth guy, he visits the table at a great consistency meaning not too much and not too little. He had great recommendations and what really impressed us is that when he didn't know something, he said he didn't know and then went and figured it out. He, again, is a great guy and I am happy he served us. Food - absolutely phenomenal! It's one of those, "I don't want to eat anything else or drink anything else because I love the after taste." I had the Mahi Trickey fish and my girlfriend had the Salmon Herb butter. We also had the appetizer of chicken/andoullie sausage gumbo and fried oysters. Everything together was super delicious. The only thing I would change is getting a different green side than the fried okra skins. Alcoholic Beverages - well their happy hour is from 2pm - 6pm, but I would not be in too much of a hurry to get here between those times. You only save about $1-$2 for happy hour. Overall, the drinks are great and tasty. They have sweet and not so sweet drinks. So they have variety. I got the old fashion and it was good. She got the Painkiller that comes with Bacardi and it tasted sweet but good. Pricing - they are a mid-tier to higher-tier pricing type of venue. If we didn't get appetizers and only one alcoholic drink per, we'd obviously be less that $100 total, but again I truly believe this experience was worth it. Definitely coming back. Location - it's a busy location, as in for parking. But the venue is pretty chill and relaxed.

I've always heard good things about this restaurant and people have recommended it multiple times. The presentation of the food was the best thing about this place it all looked so good but it's sad to say that wasn't the result we ordered the catfish and shrimp platter was so stoked when it came out but the shrimp ended up tasting kind of rubbery IMO as well as the catfish just wasn't the best especially for the price of the food , I'd say if the food was a bit cheaper then it probably give it a 3 star. My favorite thing we had was the appetizer blue cheese and chips it was good but the price again didn't seem to match the amount/quality of food but again the presentation they look super delicious and mouth watering, my girls favorite dish their was the coleslaw she said it was delicious but I'm not a big Cole slaw person so I'll have to agree w her on it. The atmosphere of the place was not good we were there about an hour and we did not see one single employee smile everyone their seemed to not enjoy their job from the hostess, bar , waiters and the staff handling the food. I'm not saying I will not give this another go in the future but as of right now I'd just rate it a 2 star overall if we base it off the presentation itself of the food I'd give it a 4. Definitely try it out and make your own opinion I can't speak for everyone as well as people do have off/bad days and maybe this was just one here.

We visited here for the first time on Saturday 2/17/24. Here is what we had along with a 1-10 rating. -blue cheese chips- 9 -smoked old fashioned- 10 -raspberry smash-8 -catfish platter-6 -shrimp and grits-9 First, as we entered the restaurant, we had no idea if we were supposed to seat ourselves (?)- turns out- no.. someone eventually showed up to seat us but it was kinda awkward. There is an open kitchen, with tablets- (for the servers) but it creates a more casual look than they should be going for. It looks like a chipotle back there.. the menu is good- several choices- no complaints.. they just seem to have an identity crisis- several chef-y items in food and drink, they need to have a host stand with a warm greeting- do something w/ kitchen area so people don’t feel like they’re supposed to line up back there to place an order and remove the soda fountain area- if you have waiters, why do you have this?? They offer “fried okra” but please be aware it’s unlike any you’ve had- not breaded and whole. Did not particularly care for that, a menu note would have been helpful. -catfish was good.. giant portion, I prefer it crispier but it was fine -my husband loved his shrimp and grits. We will return and order fish tacos.

UPDATE they asked me to email them two months ago and I never heard back from them. Still waiting for feedback my review still stands. They also got my review removed from yelp.

Unprofessional "GM". We've just moved to the area, disabled retired marine family, had only been here about a couple times. The only thing we liked were the shrimp tacos and you can virtually get that anywhere. Upon arrival there was no one hosting and checking people in. We were then greeted by a middle aged "man" after a couple minutes of waiting in the middle of the restaurant. He never told us there was a wait. Mind you there were several open tables cleaned that was clearly visible. We had our three month old son with us and we just wanted to sit inside where it was cool. We asked if we could just sit at one of the many open tables and wait and he then told us "let me let my kitchen catch back up, and I'll get back to you". We politely pointed out that doesn't make any sense. Then he changed his story and proceeded to tell us "there's a several people ahead of you". Which if there was a waitlist that's all he had to say. Clearly he was not made "GM" by critical thinking or communication skills. We took his lack of knowledge as means to go to our local favorite The Rim. When we left we were chased by the "GM" as he was still trying to gain our business. We told him politely to leave us alone and kept walking. He still was yelling from the door trying to get inside, then understandably we were upset because if we were not made a priority in the first place, why was it that when we left the script changed yet again? We made our distain verbally clear for him to leave us alone telling him to eat it, then in a business classy fashion and yelled "you too". Told us that we were not welcome back, to our surprise we gladly agreed that we can get the same thing elsewhere without being chastised, harassed, discriminated, and disrespected. To end this, we had positive experiences prior to being introduced to the man child GM. Your money/time are better...

I would like to preface that I’m a former employee, I no longer work there but I feel I must provide an authentic and honest review.

The food is delicious and I absolutely loved working at this location, however this review is not about the food, but rather a particular server/bartender.

I worked at this place for 10 months and though I enjoyed my time there I was vehemently bullied by one person. Ashley Boone, you were disrespectful and rude to me every shift we had together for several months. Every single memorable interaction I’ve had with you was absolutely hostile and unnecessarily mean. I tried my absolute best to fight back with kindness and respect and ultimately I lost every time. Pettiness is a fallacy, but you are just an awful person.

If you choose to dine here I recommend Sarah, Scott, Leann, Dez, Sabrina, or Mike. They provide nothing but excellence and a pleasant experience. I enjoyed working with Tina and Brad as managers, and the rest of the staff are absolutely lovely. I solely left because my well being is more important than a job, and all because one person ruined it for me.

I was the frog that didn’t leap out even when the water was too hot, I nearly boiled myself to death.

For those who want food recommendations, I recommend trying the following:

kitchen sink gumbo fried green tomatoes thai wings crab cakes (get 2, it’s worth it) bourbon sherry linguine (today’s catch) tricky fish plate (today’s catch) D.G.S. (Darn Good Salad) mac & cheese bowl french toast sundae

I have zero complaints about anyone else currently working there. Thank you for reading.

reply to comment: I did bring it up- several times. It’s difficult to change someone’s character/personality/attitude, so I took it upon myself to make an important decision. I appreciate my time there and am grateful to have worked with...

We recently visited Tricky Fish and sat at the bar, expecting decent service, but unfortunately, we were disappointed once again. Our drinks came out quickly, which was a good start, and we let the bartender, Meredith, know that we needed a couple of minutes to decide on our food.

However, it quickly became clear that her priority was a group sitting in the corner, which we later realized was her family. She was constantly tending to them—making sure they had drinks, appetizers, clean plates, and meals—while completely neglecting us and other paying customers. At one point, a little girl from their table even walked behind the bar to throw something away, which seemed highly unprofessional.

The final straw was when it came time for her family to pay. Instead of handling it properly, we heard a coworker ask about the total, and she told him “I don’t know?” He told her to “just write it down and write Brad’s family on it.” It was shocking to witness, as it felt like blatant favoritism and possibly even THEFT. Meanwhile, we tried multiple times to get her attention, but she was too busy cleaning up after her family, washing dishes, making drinks, and chatting—completely ignoring us. I eventually had to walk over to her and directly tell her we were ready to order, and even then, she acted as if she couldn’t care less.

It wasn’t even busy—when we arrived, we were the only two at a bar that seats almost twenty. What makes this worse is that we had a very similar experience about a year ago but decided to give it another shot, thinking it had to be a fluke. Sadly, it wasn’t. After 30 minutes of being ignored, we paid for our drinks and left, deciding we won’t be coming back. Given the level of service, we wouldn’t be surprised if this place ends up on Kitchen Nightmares someday.

If you’re looking for good service, you might want to...
