UPDATE they asked me to email them two months ago and I never heard back from them. Still waiting for feedback my review still stands. They also got my review removed from yelp.
Unprofessional "GM". We've just moved to the area, disabled retired marine family, had only been here about a couple times. The only thing we liked were the shrimp tacos and you can virtually get that anywhere. Upon arrival there was no one hosting and checking people in. We were then greeted by a middle aged "man" after a couple minutes of waiting in the middle of the restaurant. He never told us there was a wait. Mind you there were several open tables cleaned that was clearly visible. We had our three month old son with us and we just wanted to sit inside where it was cool. We asked if we could just sit at one of the many open tables and wait and he then told us "let me let my kitchen catch back up, and I'll get back to you". We politely pointed out that doesn't make any sense. Then he changed his story and proceeded to tell us "there's a several people ahead of you". Which if there was a waitlist that's all he had to say. Clearly he was not made "GM" by critical thinking or communication skills. We took his lack of knowledge as means to go to our local favorite The Rim. When we left we were chased by the "GM" as he was still trying to gain our business. We told him politely to leave us alone and kept walking. He still was yelling from the door trying to get inside, then understandably we were upset because if we were not made a priority in the first place, why was it that when we left the script changed yet again? We made our distain verbally clear for him to leave us alone telling him to eat it, then in a business classy fashion and yelled "you too". Told us that we were not welcome back, to our surprise we gladly agreed that we can get the same thing elsewhere without being chastised, harassed, discriminated, and disrespected. To end this, we had positive experiences prior to being introduced to the man child GM. Your money/time are better...
Read moreI would like to preface that I’m a former employee, I no longer work there but I feel I must provide an authentic and honest review.
The food is delicious and I absolutely loved working at this location, however this review is not about the food, but rather a particular server/bartender.
I worked at this place for 10 months and though I enjoyed my time there I was vehemently bullied by one person. Ashley Boone, you were disrespectful and rude to me every shift we had together for several months. Every single memorable interaction I’ve had with you was absolutely hostile and unnecessarily mean. I tried my absolute best to fight back with kindness and respect and ultimately I lost every time. Pettiness is a fallacy, but you are just an awful person.
If you choose to dine here I recommend Sarah, Scott, Leann, Dez, Sabrina, or Mike. They provide nothing but excellence and a pleasant experience. I enjoyed working with Tina and Brad as managers, and the rest of the staff are absolutely lovely. I solely left because my well being is more important than a job, and all because one person ruined it for me.
I was the frog that didn’t leap out even when the water was too hot, I nearly boiled myself to death.
For those who want food recommendations, I recommend trying the following:
kitchen sink gumbo fried green tomatoes thai wings crab cakes (get 2, it’s worth it) bourbon sherry linguine (today’s catch) tricky fish plate (today’s catch) D.G.S. (Darn Good Salad) mac & cheese bowl french toast sundae
I have zero complaints about anyone else currently working there. Thank you for reading.
reply to comment: I did bring it up- several times. It’s difficult to change someone’s character/personality/attitude, so I took it upon myself to make an important decision. I appreciate my time there and am grateful to have worked with...
Read moreWe recently visited Tricky Fish and sat at the bar, expecting decent service, but unfortunately, we were disappointed once again. Our drinks came out quickly, which was a good start, and we let the bartender, Meredith, know that we needed a couple of minutes to decide on our food.
However, it quickly became clear that her priority was a group sitting in the corner, which we later realized was her family. She was constantly tending to them—making sure they had drinks, appetizers, clean plates, and meals—while completely neglecting us and other paying customers. At one point, a little girl from their table even walked behind the bar to throw something away, which seemed highly unprofessional.
The final straw was when it came time for her family to pay. Instead of handling it properly, we heard a coworker ask about the total, and she told him “I don’t know?” He told her to “just write it down and write Brad’s family on it.” It was shocking to witness, as it felt like blatant favoritism and possibly even THEFT. Meanwhile, we tried multiple times to get her attention, but she was too busy cleaning up after her family, washing dishes, making drinks, and chatting—completely ignoring us. I eventually had to walk over to her and directly tell her we were ready to order, and even then, she acted as if she couldn’t care less.
It wasn’t even busy—when we arrived, we were the only two at a bar that seats almost twenty. What makes this worse is that we had a very similar experience about a year ago but decided to give it another shot, thinking it had to be a fluke. Sadly, it wasn’t. After 30 minutes of being ignored, we paid for our drinks and left, deciding we won’t be coming back. Given the level of service, we wouldn’t be surprised if this place ends up on Kitchen Nightmares someday.
If you’re looking for good service, you might want to...
