I've never been a donut-holic, but, whenever I do need a donut "fix," my absolute favorite is the blueberry cake donut! I had never been to ANY Shipley's before today, and I can say, without a doubt, that I will not only return, but, let ALL of my neighbors (on my Nextdoor App,) who piqued my interest for weeks with all kinds of great reviews - while they were building the store), because they had tried them in different states, ...will not only return, but, also tell ALL my family and friends, as well as post this review on my Nextdoor page!!! And, to those of you who have given lackluster reviews about customer service, as a few of my neighbors mentioned, perhaps people were too critical, due to the fact that they were JUST opening, and that there probably needed an adjustment period while employees got trained, and by the way, they were absolutely slammed busy, so, that may have played a role in what those folks were seeing. I for one, have nothing but fantastic things to say about the quality of the donuts - WOW, AND, I called to ask a few questions, Spoke with Joanie, the manager, who thought they were completely out of those donuts. She took my number, so, she could let me know when they came back in...first off, how many businesses can you say that about? Imagine my surprise when she calls me and after searching and speaking to her staff, she managed to find me some, and called me right away...15 minutes after we hung up! Again, how many places can you say that about? Ok, so that was Joanie, the manager, when I went through the drive thru, the lady was also extremely polite, helpful, and very customer service oriented!!! I can say for certain, that this is an amazing place, with AMAZING staff & the highest level of customer service I have experienced in a long, long time!!! Thank you, and Kudos to Joanie, she is definitely an asset to...
Read moreGreat doughnuts. I love all of the fillings. I love that they don't charge extra to fill Long John's. The doughnuts are always fresh, made the same day, and made from scratch. I applaud them for marching to a beat of their own drum.
I choose Shipleys over other great doughnut shops because, unlike other businesses in town that choose to operate in fear and mask up, common sense drives this great crew of doughnut making professionals. Masks don't protect you. Masks are nothing more than the appearance of protection. Look at the warning label on every mask available to purchase today (unless their a respirator) and they all say about the same thing; not intended for the prevention of infectious disease. I've looked locally at Costco, Walmart, Sam's Club and Safeway. I've also looked at multiple mask vendors online, specifically Amazon. I've not found a mask yet without a variation of the words "not intended for the prevention of infectious disease." But please, don't take my word for it, do your own research and discover for yourself how little protection masks offer.
I know Shipleys is SAFE because the crew members wears gloves and wash their hands and change their gloves and wash their hands between customers and tasks. Gloves and hand washing are what offers the best protection against infectious diseases. I have watched as employees have washed their hands inbetween every customer and changed gloves between customers. This makes Shipleys as SAFE of place as you are going to find to enjoy a...
Read moreWe came in for the first time to try their donuts. When we entered the store, we neglected to see the sign with the arrow pointing us the right way to walk (go to the left).
We took a few steps towards the cash register area, but stopped a few feet away to browse through the menu.
When the cash attendant asked who was next, a lady, who was before us, standing in the correct spot- immediately spoke up and said she was next and her ADHD couldn't wait any longer.
We gestured towards her anyway, as she was first. We weren't trying to jump ahead, we honestly didn't see the arrow sign.
When the lady went up to the register to order, the employee said, "Sorry about that. People try to get ahead all the time."
We were taken aback, as this wasn't our intention at all. I spoke up and said that was not what we were trying to do at all. Th employee didn't acknowledge our statement.
We weren't loud., rude or insulting. I'm a psychologist, and my husband is an officer. We respect people in food service and understand those challenges.
We will never return.
The donuts are subpar anyway, not worth the four dollars each.
Go to Winchells, or the Dutch Bakery on Fillmore. Both are worth your money, have clear directions on where to walk and...
