EDIT
4.5-Stars I'm updating my review after coming here today. It's been about 6 months since I was last here and they instantly remembered me, remembered my drink order and remembered that I always ask for the fresh hot mustard. I am giving them 6-Stars for Service. My food was really good and I had no significant issues with any item. I recently had an absolutely horrible experience across the street at Korean Garden and the Food and Service that I received from Dragon King today has earned them 5-Stars from me.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: 3.8-Stars
My family and I have been here many times over the years. They serve good food with an occasional issue. We have tried a decent amount of their items and know what NOT to get.
FOOD: The Good: My favorite entrees would be the Beef with Scallions, General Taos Chicken, and the Beef Lo Mein. The Pork Egg Rolls are really good and so are the Cream Cheese Rangoons. The Egg Drop Soup is pretty good but the consistency varies from one day to next, sometimes thick almost like syrup and other days like water. The Chicken Wings are hit or miss and sometimes dry. The standard Fried Rice is just that, Standard. I would prefer it with more vegetables and egg. Overall, these items are pretty consistent and my go-tos.
The Bad: The food does not do well as left overs. I cannot recommend large portions to-go. The texture gets ruined in the to-go boxes and the left overs lose a lot of their flavor and texture. After 1 day, its inedible to me. As some other reviews have shown, I too have had an occasional issue with the meat in the Pork Spring Rolls still being pink. One time, it was borderline raw and I could not eat them safely, this was on a to-go order. This isn't typical. The only appetizers that I can recommend are the Pork/Spring Rolls, Cream Cheese Rangoons and the Chicken Wings. I have had too many issues with all of the others.
SERVICE: The service here is fantastic. I have always had great service here from the gentleman and the ladies. They recognize me and my family and always ask about my girls whenever I come by myself.
ATMOSPHERE: The decor is nice and they do a pretty good job of keeping the place clean. However, I have two issues. The bathroom is pretty beat up. The bigger issue is the shared container of sweet and sour sauce that sits on the tables all day long.
Overall, I enjoy eating at Dragon King for some of my favorite items. The service is great and the food is good. I would recommend it to others with the...
Read moreWhile dining here at lunch today I was treated very poorly. Within the first five minutes that my younger sister and I sat down we were rushed and asked several times by different servers whether we were ready to order or not. My food came out quick but it wasn't warm and my sisters sweet and sour sauce was all over the other foods on her plate. Then four minutes into finally starting my meal I was handed the check and told there's no rush. It felt pretty rushed considering the server stopped by my table often. I was upset because the other servers were treating their customers great and being patient with them, refilling their drinks, and even helping them box up their food when they were finished. She didn't hand me a box until a long while after I had paid and only handed me one for both mine and my sisters food. Unfortunately I think this was due to some idea that I was a teen mom and an assumption that was made on their behalf. Either way this was poor customer service and no one deserves to be treated that way. I'm a tipped worker and I've never not given a tip before. I unfortunately could not tip her. She didn't deserve it and I don't think we'll be...
Read moreDragon King is a place to love, if not obsess over. You have to visit, step inside and have a meal there to know what I mean. The restaurant is beautiful and spotless. The staff are kind and courteous, as well as accommodating and friendly.
About the food, enough cannot be said. My dish, the Spicy Pork with Vegetables, was sumptuous. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and tasted fresh. My only wish was that it was spicier(I like my food to hurt!). My partner's dish, the Mongolian Beef, was superb. The beef was tender and the vegetables were tender with just the right amount of crunch. Again, it could have been spicier but was delicious nonetheless.
Overall, DK has great grub. Hands down, my favorite Asian restaurant on the Mesa. I'm inclined to say they're top 10 in the Springs, as a whole. Their flavorful fare, crossed with excellent customer service and a beautifully situated interior, make this a place to remember. Your family, date or company will appreciate the thoughtfulness of your choice and your stomach will thank you...
