I got off the highway to get coffee and to fill up on gas. At this particular exit, both were available in the small town of Four Oaks, about half a mile from the exit ramp. Unlike most McDonald's off I95, this one was clean. I would rate them a 5, except that the paper towel dispenser was empty and so I had to use the air dryer, which is like LSD for pathogens - gives them one hell of a trip all through the air when you activate it. But at least this place actually had a paper towel dispenser, which gives one hope. Other than that, the coffee was fresh, the young lady who waited on me was vapid and refused to make eye contact , preferring to fix her gaze on some, perhaps unattainable thing (paper towels?) at the far corner of the restaurant, and the apple pie was a nice little comfort on my long journey home through the rain and gloom. The place was sparsely populated in late afternoon with the usual suspects, old men discussing current events, old ladies at another table discussing old men, doubtless all drinking senior citizen, reduced price coffee. Why didn't I think to ask for that? So, my take home thought about Mc Donald's placed next to the interstate is that the ones in small towns are much cleaner and nicer than those just sort of plunked down next to the road. In a small town, managers are more accountable to their clientele - regulars who know them , ytheir shoe size and who they dated in high school. Ok, survey people, can I get to...
Read moreI swung by the McDonald’s on U.S. 301 in Four Oaks this week, and let me tell you, it was a golden-arched delight from start to finish. First off, the drive-thru moved faster than a lightning-fast Filet-o-Fish, and I barely had time to question my life choices before my hot, perfectly wrapped cheeseburger appeared in my window. The fries were crispier than a fresh dollar bill, and just salty enough to make you consider a second (or third) order. My McCafé latte arrived steaming and silky, giving me the caffeine boost of a thousand tiny Ronald McDonald dances in my brain.
Staff members wore smiles brighter than the neon sign out front, and their “Have a great day!” felt genuinely heartfelt. The dining room was spotless—no sticky tables, no suspicious ketchup stains—just the kind of clean you’d expect when a squad of burger ninjas has your back. Even the condiment station was fully stocked and organized, which, let’s face it, is a modern miracle.
If you’re hankering for a reliably delicious burger, fries that could win crispy-fries-of-the-year awards, and service that makes you feel like royalty—even if your crown is made of a paper hat—this McDonald’s is your spot.
Big kudos to the Four Oaks crew for turning a quick pit stop into a cheerful mini-adventure. Your efficiency, friendly banter, and pristine dining space make every visit feel like a VIP experience—no golden...
Read moreI actually ate there twice on the same day. I was traveling for work and, to be honest...there's not much else in Four Oaks.
I always order at the kiosk. When you order for dining in it gives a receipt and tells you to take a number to your table and your food will be brought to you. Nope. Not here.
Both times my order was bagged up, presumably because they don't want to wash trays. They didn't include napkins in the bag either time. Also, they didn't bring it to the table. They just called out order numbers. I should mention that it was not particularly busy at the times I was there. That's just lazy.
I accidentally ordered 3 small fries and all three were hard, lukewarm, and just not good. Again...it wasn't terribly busy so I don't understand why the service and the food were both so disappointing.
My little review won't make a difference, but I hope that at some point, customer service becomes a priority for them. The people who actually live and work in that community deserve better than what I observed yesterday. All of the signs say that they are proudly owned by a local family. I guess I just expected too much by having my order brought to the table and to be served as if I were eating inside. I might as well have eaten...
