A very cozy Irish Pub with a great atmosphere and great food. Every time I have been, I have had excellent service and meals have been prepared in a timely manner.
Occassionally they have live folk music playing at the pub which is always very enjoyable to listen to. It can be a bit loud if you weren't expecting live music as the pub is fairly small, but if you don't mind that sort of thing, it's a nonissue. That just comes down to personal preference.
The selection of beers is good, but I would like to see more available on tap. You can only get Guinness, Woodchuck Cider, Harp Irish Lager, and a seasonal draught on tap. I wish there were more options here. I'd be willing to pay a premium for import options I normally can't get.
As for bottled and canned options, there are PLENTY and should keep nearly everyone satisfied. (My personal preference is to shy away from anything not on tap; however, since I can drink from bottles and cans at home).
Overall, I'd highly recommend going, especially if you like popular Irish beer and food. The only thing preventing me from giving them five stars is the lack of unique draught options, but that is down to personal preference and there are plenty of alternative options in the bottle and canned section of...
Read moreThe only time I'm disappointed with this place is when I can't get in. I was a little sad when they switched from Woodchuck Cider on draught to Magners. But to be fair, Magners IS the traditional Irish cider, and it was over a decade ago, so I really should get over it. MOVING ON...Dublin pot pie is my favorite thing on the menu and has been for the last 20 years. Upon occasion, I get lucky, and they have rosemary potato soup. It's been a long time since I've had that, but that's a taste that will stay with you for the rest of your life, and I've not been able to replicate it at home. My husband always gets the fish and chips, and he has NEVER veered from it because it's just too good. He always gets extra tartar sauce because theirs is fantastic. He'd take a whole bottle if they'd let him. It's a very small place with limited seating, but that's a large part of its charm. It's the perfect building for McCreary's to be in. LOVE this place ❤️ also...it costs more to eat at Captain D's than it does at McCreary's! OH! Bangers and Mash!!! Take that to go after you've eaten your meal. It's still delicious...
Read moreJust moved into town and was extremely excited to visit this place until my entire night was ruined by a hostess and Graham. Graham informed us that we would be put on a waitlist that would be over an hour, which we agreed to and waited. Over an hour later, Graham sat us down just to tell us 10 minutes later that we needed to get up because there was actually someone else before us. Frustrated, we agreed again and headed outside to wait in the freezing cold. It was embarrassing. 20 minutes later, a table opened up and a couple cut us in line and sat down in our seats. We politely informed them that we were on a wait list, and they told us they didn’t care and to wait outside again. We then spoke to Graham, who told us basically the same thing. He said that it was a confusion, but he couldn’t do anything about it and sent us back in the cold. Why was Graham able to kick us out when he messed up, but refused to do anything about our table being stolen? This guy needs to be fired. I will never come back here and will make sure the people I know hear...
