I don't eat out much, or do carryout. My son treated me to a Doordash dinner on my birthday, as he was out of town. Funny, I don't even remember where I ordered dinner from, but dessert came from Cugino Forno. Because I'm older, I deserve two desserts, lol, so I ordered the cannoli and the tiramisu. BOTH would get me out of the house on a snowy night ( if there was no Doordash 😘). This restaurant knows the value of the pistachio. The ends of their cannolis are smothered in them, and the ratio of chocolate to filling is perfect. Not too much, just enough to add to the flavor kick. I haven't been to Italy yet, but this tiramisu is better than any, other than my own. No sogginess. Very light, and exquisite flavor. So I've Doordashed them once since, and stopped by to place a carryout order the other day. This from a woman who doesn't eat out much😋😋. I'm in love with the Lecce salad. I like a "big salad", just like Elaine, and this fills the bill. I add chopped egg and bacon and croutons, because, just because, lol, and it's dinner for three nights. And their house made Ranch dressing has me rethinking blue cheese as my go to. I'm not sure how many characters I'm allowed, but the pizza and the people could fill paragraphs. I'm a Pittsburgh native, and believe that we do pizza very well there, but Cugino Forno's pizza makes me miss home less. For me, it's all about the crust, and I've never had a crust with this particular flavor. Has to be the ovens, to a degree 😘, but the flour used is crucial. They nail it. The staff are the nicest I've encountered of any establishment in recent memory. Granted, they're paisans, whom I usually click with anyway, but these folks stand out. By all means, get out, or Doordash this restaurant's offerings. You will...
Read moreThis is certainly the best pizza place in Frederick. I'm a big pizza person, and make it a mission to find the best pizza joint wherever I am. Be it Napoli, Salisbury, Gaithersburg, or Frederick. I can say with confidence this is the best pizza spot in Frederick. This is the closest you'll get to authentic Napoli pizza around town; with pizza styles, crust type, and ingredients up to par. You can also see the type of pizza flour they use, which is a pretty primo flour to use in the US, not cheap. This place clearly goes as far as they can to reach neopolitan pizza heights, and it shows. Considering how much they must spend on ingredients, and the pizza size, it is fairly priced. The cannoli are also easily the best in town, and for their price they are an absolute steal. The salads are also a great size and supreme flavor for the price. The gelato and cakes are the only things I did not eat yet, but they look authentic as well. Not ice cream calling itself gelato. Yes they are two different things. The service is good, if relaxed, which is not bad. They are fittingly staffed as well, so food comes out quickly and people are helped as needed. I believe I also directed Italian accents in the two people who helped me. The atmosphere is also quintessential new-age Italian. From the bike races on the TV's, to the service, to the flags hanging on the brickwork.
This place is a godsend to the Frederick area, which was lacking in a quality Italian pizza shop. For lunch with friends, dinner with family, or working remote while you eat cannoli and pizza to your hearts content, this is the...
Read moreWe were recommended this little gem of a restaurant from our family. Nestled on a semi-busy street, next to a condo/luxury apartment complex, this hole in the wall newly opened pizza restaurant sure did not disappoint. Love the fact that it was away from the bustling downtown Frederick area, so parking was not an issue. There was also plenty of seating inside the restaurant, as well as outside. This restaurant's main fare is pizza, and the pizza definitely did not disappoint. We ordered one Supremo Italiano pizza for our family of four, and it was just the right size for us. The crust was soft and chewy with just the right amount of char. The toppings were plentiful and complemented well with the tomato sauce and mozzarella. We also ordered the Verona salad, and it was super delicious - in my opinion, you can never go wrong with mixed greens, fruit, candied nuts, and a vinaigrette - my type of savory/sweet salad. They also have imported gelato displayed in a spinning freezer display, which was awesome! My kids got the chocolate and mint gelato, and needless to say, it was devoured within minutes. We saw a constant stream of dine-inners, and carry-outters. We went during dinner hours, and there was always a line. However, the line moved fast, and the food came out even faster. The prices were very reasonable (as mentioned above, one pizza fed our family of four - so that averaged maybe $6-7/person?). Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a good pizza restaurant for dinner...
