They are absolutely doing something right here. My partner (vegetarian) and I (vegan) came here before a geocaching block party. We spent about 45 minutes here, and had a delicious breakfast of the vegan mac and cheese and the frittata (not vegan), plus a couple vegan pastries - lemon thyme shortbread cookies and a chocolate sage babka/bun. We also had drinks (cold brew; house soda). The owner, the front of house staff, and the chef were all very friendly and helpful. They were a bit busy when we first arrived, but we were happy to give a small business a couple minutes to catch up while we figured out our order. The food was all delicious - the shortbread, though vegan, completely fell apart in your mouth like shortbread should, and was absolutely scrumptious. I loved the chocolate sage bun - I haven’t had anything like chocolate babka or rugelach since going vegan almost 10 years ago, so it was such a treat to find something like this again. I don’t know what more to say about the savory food I had other than that it’s absolutely worth every bite. The flavors in the food are incredibly well developed and the chef(s) are very good at what they do here. If I lived in the area I would absolutely be a...
Read moreThis was a particularly bad experience, and it warrants posting despite the fact that I really do wish this business the best. I was there about a week ago with my brother and he got severe food poisoning. He was sick for 3 days, vomiting again and again for a full day. It might have just been a bad batch, but it was REALLY an awful time for him. He went to urgent care as well when the nausea symptoms refused to go away. I want to share because in private messages with the owner, she mentioned that the rest of the batch was sold, so I was worried immediately that others had the same experience. I had gotten a fruit loaf before, and it had clumps of flour in it, which at larger volumes can also cause issues. I wish the best for this cafe, but I think they need to be more watchful with properly cooking and baking...
Read moreI needed a respite from work and thought I'd find some serenity, great coffee, vegan dishes, and pastries. I was delighted! The atmosphere was peaceful, welcoming, quiet. AND the food! I ordered a bowl of Rice and bean soup and, honestly, the BEST Rice and Bean soup I have EVER tasted. The portion was very generous. Then, I ordered one of their unique plates that was an oyster mushroom delight on foccacia vegan bread. The bread tasted like a hint of thyme and slightly salty. Not overwhelming. It was very moist; melted in your mouth. Again, generous portions! I recommend a walk up Bentz Street to 6th and enjoy this delighted. It felt.loke a place where I could relax with my favorite novel. On the top of my list of its kind in downtown Frederick. ...
