The YMCA is more than just a gym; it's a cornerstone of community wellness and support. I've been a member for several years now, and had paused my membership for a wile but just renewed it. I was assisted by Jill Slaughter and front desk rep Felicia and every visit reaffirms my appreciation for what this organization offers. Every person I speak with whether in person or by phone has been extremely helpful.
First and foremost, the facilities are top-notch. Whether you're into cardio, weightlifting, swimming, or group classes, the YMCA has it all. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, and there's always enough variety to keep your workouts interesting. The pool area is especially impressive, with clean water and ample space for both lap swimming and recreational use.
What truly sets the YMCA apart, though, is its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Regardless of your age, fitness level, or background, there's a place for you here. I've seen people of all abilities working out side by side, supported by knowledgeable staff who go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels welcome and comfortable.
But perhaps the most rewarding aspect of being a YMCA member is the sense of belonging it fosters. Whether you're chatting with fellow members in the locker room or participating in a group exercise class, there's a real sense of camaraderie here. It's more than just a place to work out; it's a community hub where friendships are formed and support networks are built.
If you're looking for a fitness facility that prioritizes inclusivity, accessibility, and community, look no further. Joining the YMCA isn't just an investment in your physical health—it's an investment in your...
Read moreHonestly, not sure how my life would have been without this place. Such an amazing group of people at each location. I always enjoy the hometown feel of the Frederick YMCA. The ladies and men in the play room are "so very much appreciated" in watching over my children to allow me time to re-center my body.
Value for money, they have ample: (1) fitness equipment (e.g. E-gym, squat racks, and Ellipticals/running equipment; (2) classes (e.g. Yoga with fantastic instructors, Pilates, spin, water (ai-chi or water aerobics) and many more; (3) YMCA supports local programs to help the community; (4) discounts on YMCA affiliated activities; (5) child care at different times throughout the day; (6) pools for laps and other fun water classes (i.e. my kids learned to swim here); (7) multiple locations.
Perhaps, one of the most amazing assets or facets of the organization is its retainment of employees. I have known many of the people in the organization that have worked and progressed through YMCA for many years. The ability to remember a name or face makes it more of a community within an organization. They stick around because they care and enjoy giving back to others. Not only do the people change at most other gyms, but they are constantly bought out by larger ventures.
Instead of trying to re-create the wheel, they remain consistent in their mission to support the community and its members. Doing it well over time builds trust and...
Read moreThis branch is been responsive to my concerns with regard to availability of facilities during summer camps. I enjoy using the pool facilities and the fitness center is top rate. The only thing keeping me from giving this YMCA 5 stars is continued mismanagement of their satellite pool in Brunswick, Maryland. There continues to be critical issues with safety practices, neglegent management and unnecessary risk at that facility. I believe the YMCA pool standards are more than capable of addressing the situation they just continue to be resistant and making those changes occur at the facility. My main concern is life safety at the Brunswick pool and my hope is that they will fix these issues and make that pool as awesome as the branch pools. If and when these issues are addressed then I would have no problem saying that the Frederick YMCA is an amazing five-star facility with broad and varied programs serving multiple facets of the community.
8/18 Disappointed that we have to bring our own locks now for the locker rooms and no more towels. More amenities disappearing while monthly...
