I will preface this by saying I haven’t been to an Applebees in over 5 years so I don’t know if this is location specific or across the board. After seeing numerous commercials for the 2 meals and an appetizer deal, I decide to go to try it out. We order 2 meals from the 2 for 35 - salmon and chicken/shrimp and an appetizer. No complaints with the appetizer. I assumed when ordering this deal we would receive a smaller portion than the regular meal, but my jaw dropped when I received my meal. I received a less than 3 oz chicken breast with a small scoop of potatoes - 70% of the skillet was bare. On top of that, the chicken breast was burnt on one side. Whoever plated the chicken breast conveniently put that side down so I didn’t know until I tried to eat it. The salmon was dry, and the broccoli must have been soaked in a salt brine as it was inedible. Very very dissatisfied disappointed. The waitress was very nice and did give 50% off, but I still had to pay over $20 for burnt chicken and children sized meals. I can understand if they were understaffed, but I would rather wait for decent food than get absolute garbage on the quick. It might be better to go during the week as my experience may have been an understaffed Friday night.
Edit: owner reached out to apologize and sent gift certificates for total of the meals. Much appreciated; revised the...
Read moreThe establishment itself seemed decent enough. However, the hostess seemed confused when we asked for a booth seat. There wasn't many people seated and there were plenty of tables available.. Even when considering social distancing with seating every other table is in play there were numerous booths available. She eventually was going to seat us at the booth closest to the door but when doing so our future server walked past and said something about sitting there that was both rude and uncalled for. I asked the hostess if she really said what I thought I heard... and after asking 3 times, I was eventually told yes. Not wanting to sit and eat at an establishment that clearly didn't want our service, we left. Too many other places in Freeport to eat to have to deal with that. Returned on Mother's day with my wife and sons and had a similarly bad experience.
Update... we decided to give them another try considering a considerable amount of time had past. I can say we had a much better experience. Even though the service was slow and it took almost an hour to get our dinners on a day it wasn't even busy... the food was good and the drinks were tasty. Unfortunately the decent priced $5.99 drinks were yummy but lacking of much alcohol. We could of each had a dozen and left without...
Read moreManagement has done a good job setting up the place for social distancing and outdoor seating. We are in side and you can see where booths and tables have been moved to make seating Covid friendly. The wait staff needs more training in how to be attentive to the customer. We ordered our meal and drinks at.the same time. My side salad was brought out with no drink. No big deal. I watch our waitress walk by our table twice and I watched her for 5 minutes talk to the other employee at the carry out station. If your a person that cares about customer service, you are always looking at the table to see if your table has everything. We should not have to ask for our drinks. I should not be able to finish my whole side salad before getting my drink. Business is slow already and for the wait staff standing in full view of our table to be talking about something the I'm willing to bet was not work related. It is disappointing to see. Management needs to get their staff focused on a good customer experience. This could have been better if their was a little effort put forth. I hope the next time visit...
